The Government Hates Boobs

Free the boobies!!! :thumbsup

From nipple censorship to breast milk regulation, the government is groping where it shouldn't.

From nipple censorship to breast milk regulation, the government is making it hard to have breasts. The FCC maintains oversight of how much and what kind of breasts can grace public airwaves. Its decisions have ripple effects, since cable broadcasters often voluntarily comply with FCC guidelines.

A more dire issue than strategic anatomical censorship is the issue of breast milk. Between one and five percent of American women aren't able to produce breast milk, and some babies can't drink formula. When the two overlap the demand for breast milk is life or death. But acquiring breast milk from donation-based milk banks can be difficult and prohibitively expensive. So some women buy their breast milk on an online "gray market" that stifles suppliers.

In this week's Mostly Weekly Andrew Heaton explains why the government should get its hands off our boobs.

I think women should be allowed... no, encouraged to walk around with their boobs out.
Businesses instead of casual Friday, should have boobs out Friday (better yet, every day).
But, being an unabashed boob fan, I may be a little bias.:thumbsup

I have always thought that it is rather strange that women's nipples are considered utterly shocking (when men, too, have nipples), but women's cleavage (which the two genders do not share) is acceptable.

Does anyone else find this a bit odd?

I see nothing wrong with showing some cleavage. I do find it odd and unjust that it's legal for men to go in public with no shirt, but illegal for women to do so. We all have breasts. Some are bigger than others, but so what?

Republicans, driven by their religious beliefs of sexual repression, are sexually aroused by publically exposed boobs which makes it a sin so because it's a "sin" the Republicans made sure that showing boobs publically is illegal. At the same time playing with boobs in private so that nobody finds out is "virtuous sin" (similar to being a closet gay) so electing boobs in the privacy of a voting booth is seen as a virtuous behavior.

It isn't that women's nipples and breast are "shocking" in the United States but instead it's because of religious sexual oppression in the United States that women's breasts and nipples are sexually arousing for men. In societies where women are commonly topless the sight of women's breasts and nipples don't result in sexual arousal.

Fundamentally this is a case of Christianity "inventing sin" where the sin doesn't exist if it's not considered a sin.

Physiologically, while more rare, there are men with cleavage but they're typically grossly overweight as well which is typically sexually unattractive.

At the same time in the United States I believe that the average bra cup size is an A+ and a woman even with a B cup bra doesn't really have "cleavage" unless they wear a padded bra that crams their boobs together. I'm sure that women members can verify this.

Personally I find the whole censorship of women's boobs and nipples to be a sign of a regressive conservative society that's stuck in time because of dogmatically held 2000 year old religious beliefs that really make no sense at all.

Once it becomes commonplace it soon becomes unexciting.

In my lifetime I've seen a lot of nude women and for me (and many others including most women) a woman is far more sexy if she's wearing clothes that hint at her sexuality as opposed to exposing her sexuality.

speak for yourself. We see enough nowadays. and cracks...ugh
modern dress of lower class young people fills the need nicely. no need for the fcc to change it's rules
if you want to see all that, you've got pay tv ; it's called cable.
In fact I wish the fcc could regulate old hippie grandma's in braless T's. :rolls

Well, I am certainly a conservative. (Whether I am "regressive," I will leave it to others to decide.)

But I do not find anything inherently shocking (or "sinful") about women's breasts, including the nipples.
