My ancestors were members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) that suffered official persecution in England during the 17th Century and while the official persecution under the British Crown ended in the 1680's the social oppressed continued unabated throughout the 18th Century in England.

It could be compared to racial discrimination and oppression in the United States where it "officially ended" in the 1960's but continues unabated in our society 50 years later.

A bogus question because the same answer is true of virtually all major religions. Islam is a religion like other religions and like other religions, that exercise control over people, it has been exploited by government for nefarious political purposes.

There's literally no fundamental difference between a Christian theocracy and an Islamic theocracy. If the United States was to formally become a Christian Nation under the US Constitution then living in the United States would fundamentally the same as living in Iran where Islam is the official religion under the Iranian Constitution.

What we must remember is that the follower is not the religion. The Christian is not the Christian religion nor is the Muslim the Islamic religion.

If a Christian proposes that the United States become a Christian nation then they've forfeit the ideological foundation for objecting to it becoming an Islamic nation.

I really don't care if a person is anti-Christian or Anti-Muslim or Anti-Atheist because their opinion is of no concern.

Only acts of aggression based upon the of animus originating from the opinion become objectionable. The murder of nine people and wounding of three more by Dylann Roof at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston South Carolina based upon his anti-black opinion is objectionable. The murder of 49 people and wounding of 53 others at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando Florida by Omar Mateen because of his anti-LGBT opinion is objectionable.

But it obviously doesn't have to rise to this level before it becomes objectionable.

Little Johnny, the white kid in the 4th grade, that calls his classmate Ahmed a terrorist based upon his anti-Muslim opinion is objectionable. The Christian baker operating a business that refuses to bake a cake for a gay couple because of their anti-Gay (religious) opinion is objectionable.

President Trump as a candidate calling for a Muslim Ban and then as president issuing two (Muslim)travel bans based upon a false claim that those banned represent a creditable terrorist threat (that recognized experts on terrorism dispute and that his own DHS states doesn't exist) because of his anti-Muslim opinion is objectionable.

We don't prohibit opinions because the opinion itself does not cause harm. Only actions that cause harm based upon the opinion are prohibited.

No, we don't live in a democracy.

We live in a Constitutional Republic where there are constraints upon both the powers of government and the powers of the people.

Ideologically the only "power" the "person" individually has is "the power to exercise their own natural (unalienable/inalienable) rights." Based upon their individual "power" collectively the "people" can delegate that same power to government where they are represented.

I've never hated white people or or brown people or black people or purple people. I don't hate Christians, I don't hate Muslims, I don't hate Hindus, I don't hate atheists and I don't hate Rastafarians. I didn't even hate the "enemy" when I fought in the Vietnam War.

I don't even hate White Nationalists, White Supremacists, Neo-Nazis, or other members of the Alt-Right movement. I just want them to stop what they're doing because they're enemies of America and the US Constitution and I will do whatever possible under the US Constitution to stop them from what they're doing.

This appears to be a statement of self-projection where a person that "hates" other people assumes that other people hate as well. Sorry but not all of us live our lives hating other people.

I don't "wish to bring huge numbers of Muslims into our land" but instead want to allow the lawful immigration for those that would come to the United States for peaceful purposes and become Americans without any invidious criteria being used to limit their immigration. I would give first priority to the refugee, the oppressed, the poor, and the downtrodden of other nations because the United States means far more to them than it does to anyone else. They are the foundation of the American dream.

Arguably I'm really tired of our "racist" immigration laws that, starting with the Chinese Exclusion Act, were always about protecting White Protestant (Male) Supremacy in the United States.

Once again I don't oppose or hate whites, I don't oppose or hate Protestants or Christians, and I don't oppose or hate men (or women).

I oppose "Supremacy" because Supremacy = Tyranny
