The point is our vetting system has worked for 40 years in regards to those countries, there was literally no need to enact blanket bans like this. None.

So since these country's have not exported Terrorism to the USA, the pre-text that Trump is using is a lie, the only reasonable conclusion that one could make is that this Executive Order is targeted at Muslims. And that would be illegal : under the First Amendment’s Free Exercise Clause and the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause (which is applied to the federal government through the Fifth Amendment), any law based on animus—hatred of a particular ethnic or religious group—is unconstitutional, and this certainly qualifies.

The reason for laws like these is to protect all religions. It may be convenient to target Muslims now, but assuming the Republic survives for another 200 hundred years, it could be Christians that are targeted later on. If Trump is allowed to undermine our constitution it sets a bad presedent.

It doesn't ONLY impact citizens of other countries. It impacts US citizens holding dual citizenship, LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENTS of the United States, you know... the people who have gone through intensive vetting AND taken the legal steps to becoming an American (in fact, are often considered to be "American").

And then of course you have everyone who validly applied for and was awarded visa.

Damn Joe, even if you don't like these people (which is about par for the course with you), look at it from the basis of contract law. A promise was made for which consideration (money/time/effort) was exchanged, and now they US has failed to perform. We are in breech.

If you hold US citizenship, even on a dual basis, you would have valid travel papers to the US.

I doubt that much can be done about those visas already in effect. In theory at least, they have already been vetted.

But watch the news. After the President's order, that is exactly who was impacted. Everyone that was held yesterday at airports across the country had the appropriate paperwork. Everyone that was taken off of planes in countries across the globe, preventing them from coming to the United States, had valid papers.

What gives?

Selective reading... Just as expected.

This order was issued without any guidance, any review by attorneys, any discussion of implementation, and one of the most vague directives ever. Dual citizens have already been impacted. As are those who are travelling on legal visas and valid green-cards.

I enjoy how you left that part out.

I don't like retroactive policies affecting approvals already in place.
