Default Chick-fil-A employee’s selfless determination is capturing the internet’s heart

I see stories like this and automatically think of the welfare/food stamp/Obamaphone crowd who rolls outta bed at noon and watches Judge Joe Brown and Jerry Springer episodes all day instead of getting their fat, lazy asses off the couch and find a job.

Kudos to this fine, hard-working, young man.

Chick-fil-A employee’s selfless determination is capturing the internet’s heart – TheBlaze

A Chick-fil-A employee is determined to keep working, even while suffering what appears to be serious injuries from a car accident. That much is clear from a now-viral image posted to social media last week.

Cameron Nelson, whose Facebook profile indicates he lives in Indianapolis, posted an image last week showing an injured Jakeem Tyler in a neck brace and arm sling but nevertheless refusing to let the obstacles keep him from working.

“I stopped at Chick-fil-A & decided to go in cause the drive-thru was too long, and I saw this young man working with a neck brace & a sling,” Nelson explained in the Facebook post. Nelson was taken aback by Tyler’s presence, as just about anyone would be.

“We sneeze too hard and decide to call in, but he’s working like nothing’s wrong,” Nelson said.

That’s when the two began a conversation about what caused Tyler’s injuries. According to Nelson, Tyler said that he had been in a car accident but that he kept working so he could have money to pay for Christmas presents and feed the homeless. Yes, even with all that’s happened to him, Tyler’s concern was still taking care of others.

Inspired, Nelson couldn’t help but think he was “supposed to go in there” and even pondered giving Tyler some money to help out.

Nelson later set up a Go Fund Me page to help raise money for Tyler’s efforts. The crowdsourcing campaign stated a fundraising goal of $2,500 — but others’ generosity has exceeded that amount. So far, donors have given more than $28,000 to Tyler and his relentless determination to do good.

“He’s definitely doing it for a great cause,” Nelson said in his Facebook post.

OMG what a load of. This person needs a chance to heal. And to use this as promotional advertising...It is no wonder my industry is in the pits when our clients try to pull **** like this off to the detriment of their valued employees.

Some of your posts would be pretty good if you left out this mindless drivel.

Jakeem Tyler has to keep working because Chick-fil-A only pays between $7.26-$9.95 per hour and he's probably at the lower end of the pay scale even if he's earning the maximum hourly wage Chick-fil-A. Jakeem Tyler can't afford to take time off from work.

The donations are about 1 1/2 times to almost twice as much when compared to what Chick-fil-A pays Jakeem Tyler to work full time for an entire year (which is unlikely).

Right-wing ignorance is so very evident sometimes.

The "the welfare/food stamp/Obamaphone crowd" is overwhelmingly comprised of "Jakeem Tylers" that get up every day and go to work at jobs that pay $7.26-$9.95 per hour that no one, not even a single person, can afford to live on.

A single person working full time at $7.26/hr requires over $5,000 in government welfare assistance just to pay their minimum mandatory expenditures for the year. If it's a single woman working full time of $7.26/hr raising a child then she requires the combined financial assistance of about $28,000/yr from both child support from the father as well as government welfare assistance.

The often expressed Republican belief that the typical government welfare recipients are the "welfare/food stamp/Obamaphone crowd who rolls outta bed at noon and watches Judge Joe Brown and Jerry Springer episodes all day instead of getting their fat, lazy asses off the couch and find a job" has always been based upon prejudice, bigotry, and ignorance because the facts paint an entirely different picture.

Based upon the corruption, brutality, inhumanity, immorality, dishonesty, and incompetence of the Trump administration the White House is the dirtiest house in America and there's no known cleanser that with remove the stains of the Trump Administration.

Are you claiming Chic Fil A set this up as a promotional gimmick?

I see nothing of the sort in the article. He chose to work. Perhaps part of the healing. All Chic Fil A did was to let him keep working.

So, let's shift the assistance from the Government, which some believe is the source of life and water, to employers, to pay someone more even if they haven't earned it by merit.

I really can't believe how some people don't seem to understand the simple concept that businesses do not exist to provide people with jobs, they exist to make a profit.

While I am in complete agreement regarding HJ's opening gambit being garbage, I disagree with your belief that a for profit business owes somebody more money just because they breathe. Do a little research, I've posted it in other threads, about how many people actually earn that $7.25 an hour FMW.

It's something people like to throw up there (as a non-fact) to extract the emotional reaction of 'How could they be so cruel?'

Kudos for the guy returning to work, since many don't bother these days, and I'm glad the Go Fund Me will provide him with some additional cash to do his good works.
