And then there's the press conference where Bush surrounded himself with children from "abandoned" fertilized eggs.
And of course, in the recent Violation of Church and State sting, who were the pastors endorsing??? McCain!!!! I'd be careful about dropping the "C" word on this one... Very much a sword with multiple edges... Personally, I'd like to see the kids left out of this. |

If you'll notice, blessings are being asked not BY Bush...But TOWARDS Bush... They are not deifying, they are praying FOR... None of them believe Bush has the ability to answer prayers or give blessings... So where do their prayers being answered and blessings come FROM?... Jesus... Now compare that to the original post... The children are not praying for blessings TOWARD Obama from Jesus (or any other religious or secular figure)... The children are singing the praise of the Obama HIMSELF... In your post, Bush is the one RECEIVING...("Would you raise your hand and speak a blessing TO HIM?") In the OP, Obama is the one GIVING...("Obama's gonna change it...Obama's gonna lead 'em") Cult... ![]()

You mean once Obama is actually in office, you ain't gonna be yammering away with these complaints? ![]() Somehow, I seriously doubt that... Quote:
As with most marketing, product placement is everything. Placing him up in front of the altar is key. *Aksha matesov fdovmek gropshfed Mr Bush* Let's all place our hands on him... "He has surrounded himself with spirit-filled people." "He has come to visit us. Yes Lord. THANK YOU JESUS" (I'm sorry, but did she actually just thank god that they got a card-board cut-out of Bush to attend their event????) "Tell him. Mr. President. One nation under God." And then you can SEE THEM BRING IN HIS CAPE... ... or maybe it's just an American flag backdrop for him... ... while they are doing their little "worship". And I'm sorry, but forgive my ignorance. Is CHEERING HIM customary in your religious worship??? Give me a freakin' break. What they did was incredibly scary. Do you think they would be doing this for Obama??? ![]() And if they were, I would be amazed if you actually tried to defend a similar situation for Obama... Quote:
![]() I really wish you could put this in perspective. I mean for crying out loud, MCCAIN ALSO put the claim of "Change" in his campaign. If Republicans said "We're going to change the world", would that be a "cult"??? Or would it be a mantra for their diplomatic ideals for the Middle East? The disturbing part (and I believe the Obama thing is disturbing as well) is that they have KIDS who are too young to think for themselves doing that. (Although I can't help but wonder if one has no problem with parents indoctrinating their kids with RELIGIOUS beliefs, why are POLITICAL beliefs suddenly scary? I've seen Christian Christmas pagents. Should those be seen as "scary" as well? Cause when push comes to shove, what religious parents typically do with their kids IS indoctrination, but nobody blinks an eye cause it's "religion".) But back to the subject, thinking Obama is going to help is not a "cult" thing. While I think the parents need to let their kids be kids and not so politically involved, that ideal has nothing to do with "cult". That's your Obama-bashing perspective... |

When I went to grammar school -back during the stone age-I never knew our teachers' political views. They taught us to care enough about our country to vote. They explained what a hard struggle it was to establish this Democracy. I even heard a girl ask my 5th grade teacher who she thought should be the best President in an election. The teacher explained it wouldn't be right for her to tell us her views because she was what was called an "authority figure" in our lives. She went on to explain what that was.
This conversation made me think how very very lucky I was to attend that little west side working class school in hick Florida. Thank you for bringing those memories to the front of my old head. I try to imagine sometimes, what these long dead teachers and community members I am so proud to have known, would think of today's world. They put so many hopes and so much responsibility on us to lead our fellows up the light bright path for a better tomorrow than they probably had. I shake my head, and think we failed, and how ashamed I would be to meet them all now and give account of myself for allowing my country to be a breeding ground for neo-ignorance. For over the top greed. For down right meaness of spirit. How did it happen? How did we get to the point we couldn't even have polite conversation with people of a different viewpoint? I'm not talking about forums where debate is the name of the game. I'm talking about stinking Liberals and dirty right wingers. No wonder congress couldn't reach an agreement on an urgent matter for partisan posturing. We need for them to compromise; that is what we elected them to do. Nobody gets everything they want-at least they shouldn't. It's very bad for the person's character shaping. So said Mrs. W_______, of Evelyn Hamblen Elementary.
