I capitalized the word you need to focus on in this situation
NOBODY IS SAYING counselors were needed. Nobody is saying that any kid went to a counselor.

They were offered.

When I went to school (two and a half decades ago in the midwest) they had a school counselor on staff.
He covered a LOT of duties.

You guys are making a mountain out of a non-existent, non-stated need...

Then why does the article have to state the fact that counselors were offered?

And you missed the point entirely but still applied your pious condescension.

Why were counselors offered? For what need? Fair question. Can you reach deep in to the bowels of your superiority and find an actual answer? Sans the sarcasm.

Ya know, like most humans do when they discuss matters together.

I kinda think the school counselors 25 years ago were different then the counselers offered in this situation. I could be wrong.
My school counselers were actually called "guidance counselers". Their job wasn't to provide sympathy, support if we got our feelings hurt or support if we were offended. Their job was to guide us towards a future (read college or employment) that fit our skillset and intelligence. I never much cared for the guidance counselor assigned to me in high school. Fortunately I was only forced to talk to her twice a year.

I'm not sure the millennials did that. Probably some of their parents did that. With the help of a liberal, leftist leaning education system more concerned about feelings than actual education.

No wonder Spartans killed infants they deemed weak. They woulda never tolerated these whining sissies. If these tools were alive back then they'd contact a lawyer and demand immediate exception into agoge training and request a safe space because war is too scaaaaaaaary.
It's funny, the millennials I work with are smart, independent and hard working. The millennials I read about in the news are lazy and moving back in with their parents. It's kinda like that 'Two Americas" that liberals often mention. All rolled up into one generation. Except for one difference. Some millennials wait for things to happen and some millennials make things happen. Not much different than my generation.

Same here. Guidance counselors. Me thinks we coddle the older students too much. Life is not easy and you can't prepare kids for it by giving them solace every time they are struck by misfortune. It won't happen in real life.
