Default The Future of Philanthropic Institutions

I noticed Freddie Mac is a sponsor of "Wednesday's Child" a program to help put foster children and adoptive parents together. That got me to wondering how this whole financial situation is going to affect charities?
I know some of you have causes that you cherish. Do you have any info on the plight of your favorite charity in these troubling times?
General comments are also welcome.
Thanks.

Oh yes, it would be like you to equate unrelated things to attempt a snide point. Political fundraising and philanthropic fundraising are two different things. If they were not, then why not just do an umbrealla donation for McCain and Obama that helps them both? You know... kinda like the United Way...

What a dippy comment and a sad moment when you take an issue of substance and use it as a pathetic attempt as a smear.

They just ask them to be smart, truthful, honest, and show a modicum of good sense." Ann Richards, Former Texas Governor

This article only relates to post Katrina giving. I wonder if there are specific stories of charities that are hurting and maybe what they are doing to hold themselves together?

We're coming off a period of incredible accumulation of capital that led to major philanthropic gifts. We hope [a recession] won't deter that." Bracing for Tough Times - Philanthropy.com
