While doing press for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, actor Harrison Ford provided Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump with a reality check regarding the film Air Force One.

Trump mentioned the latter film and Ford’s performance in it during an interview with The New York Times last week.

“My favorite was Harrison Ford on the plane,” he said. “I love Harrison Ford — and not just because he rents my properties. He stood up for America.”

So imagine Ford’s surprise when an Australian television reporter asked him about Trump’s praise.

“Donald, it was a movie,” Ford said as he addressed the camera. “It’s not like this in real life, but how would you know?”

Ford delivered his advice via his trademark gruffness. Hell, even NBC News writer Jillian Sederholm used the all-too-common-for-Harrison verb “growled” when recounting the actor’s words during the interview.

I still remember the news video showing Harrison happily holding a little model of Air Force 1, that Slick Willie had given him. It's only a toy, Harry.

Yes, it was a good movie. An inspiring movie. Ford played a thoughtful, sensitive yet decisive leader with stones and patriotism in spades.

A story of the kind of a President we wish we had.


Can you see Obama doing ANY of those things?

Perhaps Harrison doesn't believe we should have that kind of President. Then why did he portray one?
