Default Lawyer: No drugs, booze in woman beaten by officer

Interesting developments

LOS ANGELES (AP) An attorney for a woman seen on video being repeatedly punched by a California Highway Patrol officer says tests show she had no drugs or alcohol in her system.

Drivers who called 911 before the incident said Marlene Pinnock appeared high, drunk or "loaded."

Attorney Caree Harper says Pinnock has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and the homeless woman was off her medications for roughly two to three months when the July 1 altercation occurred. She says Pinnock was previously misdiagnosed with a different mental illness.

Pinnock is suing in federal court for civil rights violations.

The CHP says Pinnock was endangering herself by walking on Interstate 10 and the officer was trying to restrain her. The agency has pledged a rapid investigation.

A spokeswoman couldn't confirm whether the CHP has Pinnock's medical records and said if it did, they wouldn't be released because of the investigation.

Has to suck to die sober. When I go I wanna be plastered.

I didn't follow this story. Were the cop's actions justified? Did he get fired?

Internal investigation, the California Highway patrolman had her down on the ground, helpless, and proceeded to punch her in the face 11-12 times rapidly, without her even being able to struggle. All that is known to date, was that he ordered her not to walk near the freeway, and she apparently ignored him, and was given a savage beating, caught on cell phone camera by someone.

I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather............not screaming like the other's in the car when it went over the cliff........STFN

Well that wasn't soo bad. The judge got this one right.

No Cop should ever do this to anyone. Especially in this situation..

true,
But It's even sadder that that's about the best we can hope for with some of these police encounters now-a-days,

"Well at least the cop didn't kill me."

Not yet. Punched the lady 11-times in the face, heck of a way to restrain someone and prevent them from endangering themselves. She would have been better off if he let her walk out onto the California freeway, and called EMS in, than to have confronted her, she probably would have made it across, better than being beaten half to death.....

Die sober? You want to go plastered? Millions do everyday. I want to go like my grandfather, peacefully, in his sleep.........not screaming like the others in the car he was driving when it went over the high cliff.........STFN
