Default Hey BTW there's a war going on

I was just considering this war in comparison to others. And did anyone notice that there is an effort to keep Americans from feeling this war. First, We are not paying for this war. We a borrowing because we don't want to stand by our convictions. Secondly, We don't want to face the cost in lives and physical destruction of our men and woman. We don't allow photos of the coffins. And the war comes in after the latest missing blonde. We are making our soldiers serve more time then expected because the administration screwed up. And now we don't want to pay for a G.I. bill

Our kids don't deserve this treatment. Maybe if more of us were involved we could stop the secret war. Bring it back in to the light of day.

Yes, by all means let's bring this war to the light of day. Of course for you that means that there's not enough bad news being spewed across the media, and fo rme that means that the media has far less bad news so they have stopped reporting. You want more negative reports from Iraq, I want more positive ones. I tell you what, let's ask the terrorists which one they'd rather see splashed across the TV - reports showing that they've been beaten and beaten badly or reports glorifying thier attempts to terroize people into submitting to them??

Yes. I have noticed that as well.

I also notice that FS's response in no way addresses your points.

He doesn't explain why we are not paying for this war with current tax dollars.
He doesn't explain why the administration is so cautious to prevent the cost in lives and physical destruction from being noticed.

We could post all sorts of OTHER tragedies in the world, like kids who aren't properly nourished (both here and abroad), and people who suffer from all sorts of disease and other tragedies.
But for some reason, the fighting in the middle east take the prime spotlight in THIS Republican focus...

Think of the war in Iraq as a "continuation" of Desert Storm. We agreed to remove our forces with the understanding that Saddam would honor the agreements he made that facilitated our removing our troops. He continually failed to honor those agreements by violating the no-fly zone and refusing to permit unfettered inspections. He was calling our bluff and lost his head in the process.

You've got to know when to hold em and know when to fold em. For Saddam the game has ended and hopefully a lesson has been learned. But wait,we have a new player who has taken Saddam's place at the table! His name is Ahmadinejad and he thinks his bluff will not be called. He also makes threats "bluffs" and soon he will have to lay his cards down as well. The issue of WMD's was only "part" of the equation and in my view, this sub issue was oversold as the "primary" issue by the BA.Granted,it's an important issue but not the only issue here. The WMD issue forced people to forget Saddam's past violations and when the WMD's failed to materialize people dismissed all of the other valid and ample reasons for taking action. If one looks at the "larger" picture one can then come to realize that Saddam posed a threat to freedom and humanity. He had to be removed from the table! Remember..we already accommodated him by letting him ignore the rules and his agreements. He persisted in his cheating and for a time,we looked the other way and that emboldened his bluff tactics and we called it.

Yes.."some" of us can be fooled by bluffs, that's exactly what Saddam and Ahmadinejad are counting on! How about you,are you going to fold because you were taken in by their bluff? Or..are you more like me,I support calling that bluff every time because there are more than a few poker chips at stake here. There has been an attempt to shape our destiny for us. These are evil men,not benevolent dictators.Yes,I'm cautious when it comes to pre-emptive warfare but one cannot rule this tactic out. There are times and situations that may call it into play and the war in Iraq can be justified when based on the evil history of Saddam's reign and his repeated failure to live up to his agreements. Do you want to take a chance with destiny and let these evil men hold every card when you've been shown that they cheat? If that be the case all I can say is that a fool and his freedom are soon parted!

We called Saddam's hand and soon...very soon..we will call Ahmadinejad's hand as well.

Faithful servant you missed the point. I would be happy with that news too. Whatever it takes to bring Joe blow's attention around. How about addressing the post instead of getting all defensive.
If the cause is just the fallen should be acknowledged and seen. And honored. Not hidden like something to be embarrassed about.

Why do you think they try so hard to hide the cost of the war from us? Why not just tell the truth? Why not pay our way? Its like we are being led by a car salesman. Its because its a sales job.
