Redd, I don't know if you've ever listened to Larry Elder, but it would be well worth your time if you want an honest opinion by a black man about what is wrong with the black community. He and Bill Cosby and Ben Carson are all aware and have ideas of how to deal with it. If it wasn't for Democrats pooh-poohing it, things might start happening to pull these people out of the depths of degradation they have fallen into. When you have to depend on someone else to support you, you tend to lose your pride and self confidence.

Yeah, that was just a brutal assessment wasn't it? Kind of what I learned at three from my parents.

I gotta say, he's totally dead on, and I think Don Lemon's lecture towards some in the black community should apply to every race/color/religion/whatever. I've seen enough white people, black people, people all around; litter, sag, drop out, use the N-word in public, and have little respect in general for others and themselves.

Seriously, littering. When did throwing our garbage in a garbage can become this grueling chore, unworthy of effort, unnecessary when it comes to public etiquette?

Whats sad is we even have to say it at all. Your right, this is what should have been learned as a child. I tease my kids about sagging pants. They think it's cool and a fashion statement. When I was a kid if your pants were like that you were either too young to know better or there was something Really wrong with you and as a child I should run away as fast as I could.

Having kids our of wedlock has become a national epidemic. There is a reason that marriage was the only exceptable way to have children and raise a family,since the beginning of time. Two parents keep better tabs on kids,make it easier on the family financially and children need stability.

Don't litter goes beyond just not throwing garbage on the ground. It symbolizes that you take pride in yourself and where you live reguardless of how good or bad it is. You don't piss where you sleep. This should come naturally and yet walk into the hood and what do you see? A giant man made $#!T hole. Graffiti,trash,broken this and that,filth. It's one thing to be poor, but no matter how shabby what you have is,it should still be in the best condition possible.

If you want people to understand the pain and get the full weight of the meaning of the N word, you have to stop using it yourself.

Finish high school. This should be a no brainer. If you don't want to flip burgers the rest of your life you need to get that piece of paper. The way out of the hood is education.

I would have added get rid of the ebonic's, it makes blacks sound like they got dropped on their heads. Get your public education and use the grammar you were taught.

Stop Blaming Whitey,you only have yourself to blame. You're not a slave,never have been a slave neither were your parents and probably your grand parents. You have your civil rights USE THEM TO MAKE SOMETHING OF YOURSELF! Plenty of people immigrate here every year with just the clothes on their back including blacks. They all get jobs and start working their way up until they have decent housing in decent neighborhoods. What's African Americans Excuse? The only person holding African Americans back are themselves. Stop whining and take advantage of what the possibilities could be.
