Not being a basketball fan I never paid much attention to him but I will from now on.

sw, I can't believe you don't know who Sir Charles is. He was an exceptional basketball player who finished his career with the Phoenix Suns and helped them to the only championship series they ever participated in. Too bad it was against Michael Jordan and the Bulls in their heyday.

He was the voice of the Suns and has always been outspoken. He has talked about running for public office as a Democrat. If he does, I'll guarantee you he will get as many conservative votes as he does liberal votes.

10 years ago when we got our current dog, we named him Barkley in honor of Sir Charles. Of course the fact that he is mostly black and a little on the chubby side might have had something to do with it.

actually, at one point was going to run as a republican. then later as an i dependent. has said both parties are full of it.
i heard him once in an interview talk about a conversation he had with his mother about politics where his mom said he can't be a republican because they're for the rich and he replied but mom i'm rich.
and on his basketball career...he was also a member of the Dream Team.

I had the pleasure of sitting in front of him at a Cubs game in 1993. He was here with the Suns to play the Bulls and then Cubs star Ryne Sandberg was a good friend of his (they were neighbors in Arizona). Nicest guy you'd ever meet.

I wish he had won a ring.

He actually has talked more as an INdependent. He has supported people on both sides.
