I'm not dissing the country but I would say claiming the mantle without actually proving it is sort of like what some complain about. Like keeping score isn't important it's how you play the game. Bullshlt! Keeping score is important so how do we score? By just saying it?
We could be great again if we simply get off this idea that someone else owes you a living. There is not a single person in this country today that wouldn't be better off with less government and more personal responsibility. Not one.

We score by first of all keeping track and not diminishing those that win by giving more to those that lose. The game is the game. There is no fall back in case you lose other than another individuals charity being a church or your neighbors. They will be the ones that know if you tried or are just a worthless prick that doesn't deserve help.

If someone came to America, knew nothing about it, and asked a Conservative "What do you think of America?", the Conservative will say "America has some problems here and there, but let me spent the next 10 hours telling you everything great about it."...

If someone came to America, knew nothing about it, and asked a Liberal "What do you think of America?", the Liberal will say "America has some good things here and there, but let me spent the next 10 hours telling you everything wrong with it."...

To put it more bluntly, Conservatism sees the US as half-full, and Liberalism sees it as half-empty...The video in the OP is a perfect example...

So is a president that sees a need to "fundamentally transform the United States"...

This is the biggest bunch of BS you spout. I see the right just like the post above yours whining about what is wrong with our country all the time. It's a constant drum beat. If I post a good economic indicator you guys all jump in with the bad news. This is the stupidest comment you have made. It's why I always point out that you will always find the crap in a room full of ponies.

this country is great because of the people and the ideals that forged its birth.
it's not about what the economy happens to be doing at any given time.
nor is it about government policy.
government policy may affect the economy but neither of them change those foundational ideals that most still believe are the backbone of the country.

a new healthcare law doesn't make this country great.
it's in the idea that the majority not only already were taking care of their health needs but in the spirit that believes it's our job to take care of ourselves and not the job of a government agency.
it's not about some new gun control proposal but in the idea that protecting yourself is a right that even the government cannot infringe upon.
because the government can't and won't always be able to protect us.
and the fact that the freedom to exercise that right or not is left up to each of us to decide for ourselves.
so while the economy will go up and down and those charged with operating the government will change and their policies; the spirit of the American citizen remains the greatest on earth.

Yes we are great, not because of who we are, but what we strive to be.
