All this rot about government being best when it doesn't work is Beckian/Goebbels bs.
Those of you who have bought into it for whatever reason are to be pitied.

The government doesn't pick up my garbage, a private company does. You might know them too, they are called Waste Management, but just incase you are unfamiliar with them here is the link to their site...

Point I was making many people pay their garbage/water/sewer on one bill at the city department. Say you paid your bill on time and they failed in one of these services but would still cut your water off if you didn't pay the next time. THAT is government that does not work.

Actually it proves my point, when local government hires an outside private service provider, the ineptitude of government is taken out of the equation, and services are provided more effectively. The only things I pay the government for through my property taxes is police, fire/rescue, and schools. A private company provides garbage service, I have a well so no government water, and I have a septic tank so no government sewer. For that matter Indianapolis water and sewer utilities are managed buy a private contractor, Regulators approve Indianapolis water utility transfer | 2011-07-13 | Indianapolis Business Journal | IBJ.com

I lived 7 years in a town in Idaho where the garbage/water/sewer were on one bill you paid at a city office. Never had a problem. In your scenario of a government that does not work smoothly that wouldn't happen. So yes I want government federal, local and state to work smoothly because I pay for it and because it is me-a representative government of like minded people.

Oh and guess what else? In that town you also share water rights even if you are renting. A lot cheaper when gardening! You get to also save money on the city water that is regulated for standards of drinking.

I regulate my water standards, I out right own my water rights, and everyone that lives inside the city limits tells my my water is so much better, and it does test cleaner than city. I the city you also pay nearly triple for city garbage service that I pay for private garbage service, with both dumping in the exact same place. Just because government can do it doesn't mean its done efficiently even if you see no problems on the surface. The post office can deliver a package, but if you want it fast and in a timely manner you get it from Fedex of UPS. But if government was as efficient as you think or want we would be living in a full on dictatorship, and that is the point of having a inefficient government.

Maybe you don't have to worry about private farms dumping fertilizer into your water. I did not own my property while living there. Out in the county many do. The city (all of us who live there) own it together.
Actually our irrigation water is probably not that bad because of the specifics of the town's geography. In the lower elevations I don't drink the irrigation water.
