Default American Idol' snubs Jesus

American Idol' snubs Jesus

Quote:
Some consider him God, or the son of God. Others see him as a great prophet and philosopher with a message of justice and love. Songwriter Hugh Blumenfeld called Jesus the "Longhaired Radical Socialist Jew," who was "just pioneering that free health care."

Today, people debate whether Jesus was white or black or some other race. For 2,000-plus years, Jesus has been a figure central to humanity, held in great reverence by Christians and respected by throngs of non-Christians.

And then there's "American Idol," the beloved family-friendly TV singing contest. How does Idol treat Jesus? It deletes him from the first line of a popular song, showing full devotion to the secularist mantra of the politically correct.

In Wednesday night's finale of "American Idol Gives Back," the show's philanthropy program, eight finalists performed Darlene Zschech's mega-hit Christian-pop crossover song "Shout to the Lord." The piece was written to start with the well-known lyrics, "My Jesus, My Savior, Lord there is none like You...." Jesus, regardless of one's faith, is known as a philanthropist.

But not on "American Idol," which has apparently decided that "Jesus" can't be mentioned on national TV - even when the theme is giving. Instead of singing the song as millions know it, the "Idol" stars sang, "My Shepherd, My Savior..."
Disgusting...

"I know my sheep and my sheep know me"..Jesus

What a shame that they do not know Jesus or feel that he is not worthy of an appearance on their American Idolater show..

hmmmm

I wonder if they were trying to appeal to people of all religions?

I wonder if the fact that many of the people who they are getting contributions to help are not Christians had anything to do with it?

I wonder if the people bitching about it got on the phone and donated any money.

Yeah...

"Let's use an obvious Christian song to appeal to people of all religions."...

if it's obviously a Christian song, changing the word Jesus to shepherd doesn't change that

if changing that one word makes it no longer a Christian song, then it's obviously not that much of a Christian song

when Christian extremists start ranting about their victimization and martyrdom, it makes me want to stop going to church - it's embarrassing to be considered one of them

Actually it does...

Anti-religious zealouts are offended even hearing the name, and American Idol catered to them...

When normal Christians are required to keep their mouth shut or else get the labeled "extremists", it showed how some are skewed into stereotyping all and shuts down legitimate concerns...

Or it may have just catered to anyone who is not Christian.

100% agree

I have no problem with them taking the word Jesus out of the song. In this song, it is just a word. To those who worship him, they do not need confirmation from American Idol. Regardless of who was getting the money, I think that taking the word "Jesus" out of the song went far to not alienate some people who donated. Remember, their point was to raise money for people who needed it, not to shun donors.

not in my church

if the congregation was asked who the Shepherd is, 99.99% would immediately say Jesus

normal Christians are not out making a big deal about this - normal Christians don't consider using the word shepherd about Jesus to be much of a legitimate concern
the only ones making a big deal out of it are the wackjob extremists trying to portray themselves as victims and martyrs - when what they really are is wackjobs trying to stop people from viewing legal materials and dictating what is taught in the schools and how to influence elections in order to put one of their own in office
they're not the normal ones

I was thinking that earlier. All the Church's I have gone or belonged to over the years every one from young to old would reply the same way.
