The rabid right goes ape sh*t again. While Obama spends the 4th yet again with our patriots he is attacked by the nutcases.
The President isn’t spending Independence Day in France. Republicans know it. But that doesn’t matter. Here’s a fun question to ask about the Republicans who spent the weekend spreading lies that Barack Obama was going to spend Independence Day raising campaign cash in Paris: Are they dumb, or evil? Me, I’m betting on both. The case for “dumb” starts with Andrew McCarthy, a lawyer and writer for National Review magazine. On Saturday morning, he posted a one-sentence item to the magazine’s blog saying that President Obama would spend July 4th in France on a fund-raising trip. That was flatly untrue: AP had already reported on Friday that the President would spend the holiday at the White House at a barbecue for military families. The real story sounds really patriotic; the false story sounds really unpatriotic. So of course, McCarthy believed the false story. It's about what one guy did it's about how many jumped on the band wagon with the hate stuff. Just pointing out that the hate for Obama is over the top.

If it makes it feel better, I love competent leadership. I also DO NOT want Obama associated with any Independence Day celebration or ceremony. He does not fit in. |
Mikey, this thread is stupid. One guy says this so you smear the whole Republican Party? You need to get a life.[/QUOT9E]
There are probably 200 media covering the White House daily with credentials, including the massive (and very expensive to belong to Associated Press), and one insignificant guy, writing for one insignificant periodical, writes contradicting what the AP reports as true, and can be verified easily by photographers, even tourists actually through the fence there, and you figure the Republican's are after the President unfairly? Read back what the GOP thought about Harry S. Truman when he fired Douglas MacArthur, or how they responded to the Democrats when they blamed them for losing China to the Communists in 1949. Or their fears about John Kennedy being a Catholic and becoming President, or a four year investigation at taxpayer's expense against Bill and Hillary Clinton which proved nothing. Politics and lying are synonymous, this is simply politics as usual, and an 8th grader would have laughed at that story. I will admit, that the avowed policy of today's Republican Party is to be sure Mr. Obama is not re-elected in 2012, but nobody believes this type of stupid reporting, or listens and believes Republican fools like Rush Limbaugh. President Obama gives back as much as he gets. The Republicans and media may not always give Mr. Obama the respect the office deserves, but what's going to happen when he runs on his record? For instance. How will he defend his Jobs Czar's record of outsourcing thousands of American jobs overseas as just one instance, or Obama's failure to match performance with rhetoric? Every criticism of the President isn't not fair, but remember, no President, ever, convinces over 50% of the country of his success, running for re-election or in office. America isn't made up that way politically, no matter how popular a politician is, 50% of the population will always disagree with your policies. Mikey, you made not need to "get a life" but posting up threads like this one? At least take an Excedrin first to calm yourself, we worry about you! |
He didn't change his position. He refuted what a campaign adviser said. Kinda like Obama has to do with Biden every so often.

I realize it happens on both sides of the aisle, but since it’s Obama in office… * And then there are some people who gobble up the bashing Obama crud, repeating it without even a casual inspection to see if the chain e-mail they just received was real. I don’t know how but I have got on the e-mail distribution list for some people who perpetually send out this type of crud.* And mostly, it’s the blatantly false crud. Case in point, here’s a summary discussing the last one I received a few days ago… FactCheck.org : Mirror Image * So somebody actually took the time to grab the ORIGINAL image, then purposely reverse the image, and then send out the original e-mail (or original blog post or whatever) starting this crud rolling. * * Anyway, I digress… I was googling the example you gave Mikeyy and without surprise I saw a link to Breitbart making the claim… ![]() Obama Campaign Celebrates Independence Day ... with Fundraiser in Paris The funny thing is that if you follow the link that Breitbart supplies, it says nothing about him being in France on July 4th. In fact, if you refer to the link that the breitbart pretends substantiates its claims, the source article references Obama out of the country on August 27th.* ![]() * But don’t worry. Breitbart is completely trustworthy and liberals are insane to question it… ![]()

The Breitbart site does NOT say Obama will be in Paris... ![]() It says HIS CAMPAIGN will be holding a fundraiser in Paris... ![]() Campaigns can hold fundraisers without the candidate being there, ya know...And there's NOTHING in Breitbart's article that says Obama, himself, will be at the Paris (and any European) fundraisers... ![]() If somebody took it that way, they are the ones in error...Not the Breitbart site...
