While i have no doubt they are using this issue to their political advantage - i am smart enough to recognize - without their talking points - that there has been a concerted effort in state legislatures to chip away at women's reproductive rights.

I don't know about you but i consider that "anti-woman".

is anyone actually willing to address the issue or are we just going to see accusations of "partisan" and "bias"?

and, no - i don't think i am particularly partisan, i'm not crazy about either party but - i am biased. As a woman - these issues are pretty critical to me when i see them coming under attack.

Two questions for those who are so outraged and shocked to find Republicans accused of waging a war on women: (1)Where the heck have you guys been since 2010? And (2)Where do you get your news?

The Republican 'War on Women' Is Real - Chicago Tribune

…..Caterpillars aside, the GOP "War on Women" is real and it has real-world consequences for the millions of women whose lives can and will be impacted by legislation that erodes more than a century's worth of progress on women's reproductive rights. There were over 1100 antichoice provisions introduced in 2011 and 900 antichoice provisions introduced so far in 2012. Legislators in 13 states have introduced 22 bills seeking to mandate that a woman obtain an ultrasound procedure before having an abortion. Of these, seven states are pursuing the state-rape vaginal probe variety. In addition, legislators in 13 states have sponsored right-wing "Personhood" type bills, too extreme even for the electorate of Mississippi, that could make both abortion and reproductive choices highly restricted.

How did you not notice that all those tea party Republicans that ran on jobs and the economy in 2010 have spent most of 2011 and 2012 pushing legislation that directly impacts women? In addition to attacks on women’s health, Republicans in state legislatures have frantically immersed themselves in important work such as redefining rape, reducing protections for domestic violence, and closing providers of womens’ health care. Every finalist in the Republican presidential primaries with the exception of Gingrich signed onto a pledge supporting life begins at conception (personhood). Have you ANY idea what this really means? And Arizona has just passed legislation that rules that conception begins two weeks before intercourse (really!) And I shouldn't have to point out Congressional attempts at anti-womens' health actions.

And just in the past week, Wisconsin repealed their state equivalent of the Lily Ledbetter Act, the Federal law which provides some protection for women for equal pay for equal work. The assault on reproductive rights and services for women has been astronomical and increasingly smacks of sharia-type judgment and punishment.

I know you’re good people and firm in your beliefs, but I pray you never have a wife or a daughter or granddaughter who has a life threatening medical condition or is carrying a dead fetus or suffers a “questionable” miscarriage in some of these states passing these extreme measures. She would be subjected to restrictions administered by a bunch of ambitious overzealous politicians rather than her physician. If, God forbid, you should – you will understand why it is an issue for women.

I know Republicans need the support of the radical right and the fundamentalists of the Christian right. Well, bud, you got it . You own it. But it comes with a price you or a loved one may have to pay. Whatever you want to call it, there is an attack on womens' rights and it's coming from Republicans, but you’ll never hear about it on Fox News.

1) Did you pay someone to take your GED test?

2) Do you still write letters to Ben & Jerry's demanding an Obama flavored ice cream?

How sweet of you to ask.

Nice to see you refrain from personal attacks, just like the rules say.

Why the personal attack on Downsouth's intelligence?

Awesome post! Too bad that after all the work and info you put into it, you are asked who took your GED test for ya. That makes me so goddamned mad!

There's no personal attack whatsoever...

Two points...

1) I never put anyone in the category of being those who are "so outraged and shocked"...If anyone puts THEMSELVES in that category, have at it...I didn't...

2) If anyone does considers my "attack" personal, then you should ALSO consider DownSouth's attack personal...even moreso...

DownSouth is actually QUESTIONING not only the news sources of those who are "so outraged and shocked", but is ALSO actually accusing them of being out of the loop "since" 2010...

He's calling into question your political acumen and ability to keep up with the times...So if anyone's looking at the "attacker", start with the one who initialized it...

That is a stretch past the stretching limit. You must pay the fine for over the limit stretching.

Sorry, all you get is a third party out of state check that is not signed and dated three years from now.
