I agree completely. The whole blood supply is kept safe by people's own personal integrity and so far it's been kept pretty safe. A valid way of handling it may be something along the lines of:
How many sex partners have you had since your last AIDS/HIVscreening?

I just did a search on google and found comparable statistics from multiple sites. Blacks represent 50% of the HIV infections and yet 13% of the population.

Which is exactly what is meant by "behavior-based screening."

And which is also why my original question concerning monogamy has everything to do with the issue. Under such a standard as you are suggesting, individuals who tested negative and were mutually monogamous with a partner for the last two years, would be allowed to donate regardless of their sexual orientation.
See my reply to rivrrat...

oh thanks Lizzie.

It's okay. I know that comes when they don't want to actually deal with the topic.

She hasn't even been doing that. All she's been doing is muttering incoherent, Chicken Little-esque garbage about how teh gays are going to taint the blood supply. Everything she says makes up in paranoid ignorance what it lacks in reason and fact.

Again... the answer could be ONE. But that one may have had sex with 15 HIV positive people and be HIV positive themselves. How the hell do they know? It's not an accurate way to handle things.

The only accurate way to handle things is to do blood screenings, like they do now.

I'm sure that's what it looks like to YOU. Obviously you are with the Obama Administration on this and you'd rather see folk die from aids that they would not have gotten if they hadn't had to use blood. This is what the left does. Be unreasonable, put everyone at risk so that you don't cause any insult to your voting base.

I was going to go back and try to determine where it was i was 'gay bashing' but i don't have time. Since you made the accusation you already have something in mind. Just link it.
