But wait?!?! Your beloved GWB has told everyone to go out and spend spend spend.
I went to redd's link...

Just for hubby and myself, it would be $448.61 a month. $2,500 per person deductable, 20% out of pocket payments after deductible, $35 for regular doctor office visits, $50 for specialist doctor visits, 25% co-pay on prescriptions, $75 PLUS 20% co-insurance emergency room out of pocket, $200 out of pocket for x-rays/out patient lab work...

Jesus H double hockey sticks! The monthly premium is 3 times the cost of my hubby's employer, as well as double the co-insurance cost, and almost 2 times what we co-pay for emergency room/doctor visit plus an attachment of a certain percentage of all cost?

redd...You've lost your marbles if you think the average family could afford the insurance your site promotes.

He didn't get educated...he didn't learn other things while working...he never did anything in case the future took a sharp turn downward...

In other words...he didn't PREPARE...

If you work for 25 years and at the end of it you have NO experience that could get you another job in that field, then that ma'am, is a MAJOR problem that he should've thought of long ago...

OMG, you are so Republican!!! You are just like my BIL.

Didn't prepare? How can you possibly know this? This man has a college degree, worked in logistics for years. The problem is, THERE ISN'T ANY FRIGGIN JOBS TO TAKE.

Baby Jesus on a stick, would you just listen to yourself? My BIL is so non-chalant. Well, let them move to where the jobs are. Okay, great, and just how the hell are you going to do that WHEN YOU CAN FRIGGIN SELL YOUR HOUSE?!?!?!?

I suppose, in this perfect world you live in, everyone has a second house they can just move to, a second job lined up in the neighborhood, blah blah blah. Where the heck do you shop? Walgreens?

Are what do you have to say about people who create families without having the ability to pay it?...

Kinda shortsighted don't ya think?...

It's pretty simple really...

"You do what you need to do."...

If you can't do that, then expect life to crumble when your plans don't have a backup...

Kinda short sided of you to think that people should become hermits and loners to afford insurance...

Seems to me redd, that you're just being a snot in trying to say that 'insurance can be affordable only if' and then trying to imply that having a family is what causes people not to be able to afford said insurance...It isn't whether or not a person has a family or not, but whether or not they are gainfully employed and earning fair wages.

And one of the biggest contributers to insurance costing so much, is the insurance companies themselves. It's more a buisness, it's sole intent to make a profit, not make insurance affordable in the first place. No matter what you take out of the consumers life, whether or not that consumer is single or married with/without children...The insurance companies still are going to raise their prices and make it unaffordible to the majority of consumers. Period.

Not unless the insurance companies themselves are put in check and stopped at making outrageous profits at the benefit of our citizens.

Your expectations about what makes/doesn't make insurance affordable, as well as what you think someone that is middle class should/shouldn't have or do without is just plain silly as well as unsubstantiated. As Knot said...You're blowing smoke darling.

Your entitled...

But being the person I am, I have my plans for that day already in place...

I continually update my resume...I continually to LEARN other things...I put myself in a position where I would be needed, and not a position that just needs a body...

The biggest question you could ask 100 people in the middle class is this...

"Do you have a backup in case your current situation falters?"...

What do YOU think the answer is out of those 100 that would say "yes"...

I'd guess 10...15 if your lucky...

And you will get to an age where they don't want you anymore, regardless of experience. There's always someone younger, smarter, cheaper....

And as long as people have that self-defeating attitude, they'll continue to get jobs working security after 25 years...
