Beck makes constant reference to documented history, the writings and words -- often on video, of those he criticizes, established legal and governing principles, business practices, ethic, morals and God. He also demands, with the passion of an evangelist, that his audience do their own research and develop their own opinions.

As you say there is nothing like this on Left. How could there be? Such an approach would dissolve the Left.

By the way, did you know that when the Soviet Union fell, and our Intelligence gained access to the KGB files, it turned out that one of their major top-flight concerns was Joe McCarthy, and that he might expose their extensive infiltration of the Federal Government?

History's just full of these lil' ironies, i'n'it?

Of course there isn't. The left doesn't have a representative in mainstream media that gets out a chalkboard and draw parallels that don't exist, nor does the left go "OMG! Fascism" at every turn.

Please don't pretend to be stupid, it doesn't suit you.That doesn't mean that the hysteria that McCarthy started was a good thing. People were spying on their neighbors. Newspeople were scared to say anything that was even slightly-left out of fear of losing their jobs. In God We Trust got put on the rest of our money and "under God" was added to the pledge.

Fortunately, Glenn Beck doesn't have quite that kind of power, but he certainly stirs up a lot of fear.
