Default Unspeakable

Didn't want to hijack the thread this was on, so I started a new one...

Quote:
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie today called the suicide of Rutgers University freshman Tyler Clementi an "unspeakable tragedy" and said he can't imagine how the two students accused of secretly filming Clementi can sleep at night "knowing that they contributed to driving that young man" to suicide.
How the hell can the term "unspeakable tragedy" be written and THEN followed with the words "and said"?!?!?!?...

When something is "unspeakable", shouldn't all lines of communication pretty much end there?....

Right up there with "It goes without saying..." followed by saying it...

It's actually quite easy.

"Unspeakable tragedy" referred to the young man who took his life.
"And said" referred to those who filmed him.

Well it goes without saying that an unspeakable tragedy is usually indescribably terrible.
