YouTube - Crosby, Stills & Nash - Long Time Gone (1977)
I'm a huge Crosby fan..

Same here,I sang with the Rebels and another group before getting married at the age of 18. That ended my career in music,I was the father of two and had to make a "dependable" living. So many out there do not appreciate some of the impact that Deep Purple had on early R&R.

They are still big in Australia. I don't know the conection. But they have been adopted by Aus. I had a real cool experience a few years back. I was in Sydney with my daughters. We were there while the Aussies were celebrating Australia Day. I booked tickets to see a group called "George" in the Opera house. I didn't know what we were gonna see. But we were in the second row
It turned out to be great. Jon Lord from Deep Purple was playing this huge pipe organ. There was a full orchestra. And the band rocked. The singer was a girl. And she had this range with her voice that I swear lifted you out of your chair. We were in awe. I looked at my girls and their mouths were hanging open. Never forget it. I have the CD.

BRIDGE - QUEENSRYCHE
You called me up on the phone today
Struggling with the right words to say.
Time can change a thing or two.
Time has changed the lives of me and you,
But you know... it could have been different dad.

The word brings back a sweet memory.
Im sitting on a bluff on a broken tree,
By my side a distinguished man
Giving me encouragement, telling me I can,
And you know... youre not there.

You say, son, lets forget the past,
I want another chance, gonna make it last.
Youre begging me for a brand new start,
Trying to mend a bridge thats been blown apart,
But you know... you never built it dad.

So I sit here through the night,
And I write myself to sleep,
And time keeps ticking...

Time has made you finally realize
Your loneliness and your guilt inside.
Youre reaching for something you never had,
Turning around now youre looking back,
And you know... Im not there.

You say, son, lets forget the past.
I want another chance, gonna make it last.
Youre begging me for a brand new start,
Trying to mend a bridge thats been blown apart,
But you know... you never built it dad.
