I must agree with the reasoning that we are looking at the best alternative to the status quo. So I think it's perfectly fair to examine all aspects of the issue.

The federal government is restricted in its taxation alternatives, much moreso than the States.

What are your disagreements with the "status quo"?

I am open to discuss any changes. As I've pointed out in my analysis taxation isn't fair, but it's the best means by which to pay for the programs the public desires.

That's a pretty broad statement "taxation isn't fair" concerning your disagreements with the "status quo"...

Could you be more specific?

I think I have been through my previous posts in the thread.

1) There is no such thing as fair.

2) The complicated system creates strife

3) The complicated system is not paying our bills.

Those are the major ones.

Our current tax code is so complicated that the IRS itself cannot even answer questions with any guarantee of accuracy. Call them yourself and they will disavow almost every answer that they give and if you call them back you can actually get several different answers any one of which that you get wrong can cost you extra or put you in jail.

To unburden our businesses and allow capital investment and saving to NOT be punished. We have the HIGHEST corporate tax rate in the world(could that be why businesses would leave or locate elsewhere instead of here?).

$13 TRILLION of Americans money is KEPT offshore in order NOT to pay taxes on it(another boost to the economy).

$300-500 Billion are spent EVERY year by businesses complying with(and some trying to avoid) paying taxes.
Ask any business looking for a location or a place to START a business and whether they would prefer to place themselves in a Taxfree (in regards to capital and labor) locale or in a place where they will have to pay taxes. Easy answer here.

AND BEST OF ALL
You will TAKE POWER away from the government. The "politicians" will no longer be able to "help nor hinder" businesses and lobbying and bribery will virtually disappear.

You don't think that any of this will carry over into the FairTax system?

Don't you think problems will arise nomatter WHAT system would get implemented...

Of course!...

The obvious choice is one where there is no corruption, frayd, abuse, and everything is peachy...

But if the choices are Option A...where there's 55 problems...and option B...where there's 35 problems...Then I'm ready to switch to option B...
