I will weigh in a little on the Fair Tax,it's a little premature but so is this tax plan! On the surface,I like the plan but the more I get into the details the more I see that the Fair Tax needs work before it can ever be enacted into law. What about the personal wealth that some of us have already acheived, this wealth has already been taxed, now they want to tax us "again" when we attempt to spend our acquired wealth? All existing tax that has been paid should be "excluded".

The "fairness" of any tax will always be subjective.Also..with more money that supposedly will be available for spending, what will this do for inflation?

In fairness,I have not yet made up my mind on the Fair Tax but I can see trouble ahead and some issues need to be addressed before this plan has real traction.

In Australia they have a value added tax. Basically a sales tax. I am for the simplest one page explained tax. With zero exemptions. My goal would be to make it bullitt proof.

Sadly, it's not that simple of an issue.

IK do realize that but it would still be my goal. Once they start tweeking it for whatever special interest it will unravel out of control again. The tax code is just like that junk drawer we all have in our homes. Everything gets thrown in to it.

Noble goal, like ending poverty or eliminating all suffering, and equally as likely to happen. I'm with you, we have to trim the beast. It should be lean and effective. A simple tax would be only one of those.

Under the "Fair Tax Plan" you not only get to keep your entire paycheck you will get a monthly or quarterly(whatever is decided) check in the amount equal to what your family is expected to pay in taxes on your "basic necessities". This is to offset the "unfair" impact on the economically challenged.

Offset and eliminate are not the same thing. They will still be paying more taxes than in the status quo, a proposition most can ill afford. And the definition of basic necessities is a bit vague. That would have to be cleared up. I'd be closer to supporting a VAT with an exemption for individuals who make up to a certain amount.
