Default I got a visit from a census taker today

I filled out my census form and mailed it the first week of April.
I didn't want to, but I answered all the questions except my phone number.

Today, I got a visit from a census worker.
When I told him that I had sent it in, he told me that he was hearing that a lot.
I was nice, and answered the questions again.
But,
When he asked my phone number, I told him "I don't have a phone in this house".
Technically, that was true. I don't have a land-line and my cell phone was in the car.

Did anybody else fill out their census and still get a visit?

Yep and some of the questions they asked were not the same as the questions on the original form.

I filled it out the day after I got it.

There's a message on my answering machine right now telling me I have to call them...

You don't have to call them and why in the world did you give them your phone number?

How could you possibly know all the answers on the day you got it?

One question was "How many people lived at this residence on April 1st?"
The census was delivered in the mail prior to April 1st.

Maybe they want to know how you knew the answer to a past tense question before it happened. They need to determine if you are clairvoyant.

Nope. They came to my house just once and that was it. I stood in the yard and answered the questions. I also did not give them my phone number.

When I received mine I only filled out the "number of people in household"
and put slash marks through the rest...then wrote around the margin..."dont
bother sending anyone here..we are rural and have a lot of dogs"!!!!

Number of people here is all they get. Period!

Mailed ours in and never heard from them again.

Although one census worker stopped at the house and wanted to know about the neighbors. We live in a resort town, so most of our neighbors are summer people. They have their winter homes elsewhere. and thats what I told the person
