If you want good strong egg-laying chickens, go with Rhode Island Reds. And keep them happy. Make sure they are not disturbed at night...and as much as you might be tempted to put a heat lamp in the roost...don't. It's cycles of daylight that influence the egg laying and chickens are too stupid to know the difference between daylight and artificial light.

But yeah, if you need any help, I'm just a pm away.

Thanks doll! You could make a girl gay. Oh wait that won't work, I need to make you straight. Damn just my luck!

Love ya!

You could grow tomatoes, corn, and okra over the spring-summer and then replant for gourds and melons, pumpkins, and gourds summer-fall.

I was thinking the same thing. And the only permit needed in most states would be a growers permit which you would get from the County Extension Service.

Hmmmm this is difficult since I am not a farm girl at all.

By "Jersey" I assume you mean the state of New Jersey. Yes? Silly question, probably, but you know what they say about assumptions.

To learn about growing anything from chickens to gardens in your state, start here :

Rutgers NJAES: Cooperative Extension County Offices

County Extension agents have all sorts of free literature and (at least in my state) issue growers permits for those wishing to sell produce.

A subscription to organic gardening is a good idea and Rodale Press has about a million different books on gardening. Your library is sure to have some of them. My personal recommendation is The Ruth Stout No-Work Garden Book.

Well at least he's a twit with half a clue that isn't burying his head in the sand and denying a major problem that's going to totally screw our kids and grandkids if we don't get our waste under control.
