I'll go along with that! Pecan pie with Jack Daniels in the pie and piles of whipped cream on top is heaven on earth!

I think it will just be the two of us this year. F’s mother has been boycotting holidays ever since her husband died. And her sister is probably going out of town to her boyfriend’s parents this year. My family will probably have a big to-do but my back is still not right from a slipped disk last spring, so I am really not up to traveling or visiting with a big crowd right now.

So we will be doing our own thing. The menu is not fixed in stone yet. But I am thinking it will be:

Rotisserie turkey breast (LOVE that new rotisserie!)
Green bean casserole
Creamed cauliflower
Cole slaw
Cheesecake (or maybe a pie?)
Corn bread or rolls

I guess that is rather simple for a Thanksgiving dinner but with only two of us it seems silly to prepare too much of a feast. After lunch we will put up Christmas decorations and play Christmas music for the rest of the day.

Or we may start the music before that. LOL Last time I checked I had 18 hours of holiday music on my computer and I just ordered a new Trans Siberian Orchestra CD that may be here by Thursday if I am lucky.

No, we bought a Haier toaster, convection, rotisserie oven. It is great. It is about twice the size of a conventional oven, big enough to hold a half cookie sheet. And I love the way convection ovens cook meat. We haven't tried turkey yet but I am looking forward to it.

I have one of those! Have only used it once or twice so far so I'm not really onto it yet.

Taking a little break while we are cooking...

Today's menu

Candied Yams
Green Beans
Herbed stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Macaroni and Cheese
And of course a 24 lb Turkey and cranberry sauce

Dessert:

Apple Pie
Pumpkin Pie

We didn't go overboard this year since it's just the family unit this year.

That sounds wonderful and like plenty of food to me. I'm going to my brother's in a little bit where I will eat far more than anybody needs to or should.

I'm going to cook a small turkey for myself this year some other day over the weekend and it will just be turkey, sausage stuffing, mashed pototoes and gravy. I may go buy a small pie & some ice cream somewhere but I doubt it.
