NEW YORK - American men still don't pull their weight when it comes to housework and child care, but collectively they're not the slackers they used to be. The average dad has gradually been getting better about picking himself up off the sofa and pitching in, according to a new report in which a psychologist suggests the payoff for doing more chores could be more sex.

The report, released Thursday by the Council on Contemporary Families, summarizes several recent studies on family dynamics. One found that men's contribution to housework had doubled over the past four decades; another found they tripled the time spent on child care over that span.

"More couples are sharing family tasks than ever before, and the movement toward sharing has been especially significant for full-time dual-earner couples," the report says. "Men and women may not be fully equal yet, but the rules of the game have been profoundly and irreversibly changed."

Like women don't ever mow lawns? Don't any of the gals in your neighborhood tan that way? If not, you are certainly deprived of a good old do nothing Sunday kicking back in the old lawn chair.
Like I haven't ever rehung a door that was put on wrong (by I wonder who?) before I moved in.
Pffffffft!

On the other hand I do all the cooking when I'm home except BBQ. My husband does THE BEST BBQ.
And if I ask him to help he will do things that go in a straight run like vacuuming, refilling pet food. Stuff like that.

My company offered to buy me out at the age of 40. There was one little obstacle in the way,my wife.She agreed under the condition that I do all of the housework. I could not resist the idea of retiring 25 years early so my company bought me out and paid me in lump sum. I invested some of the money in my rental business. I still work but do so from the comforts of home. I can't say my sex life has changed but I don't miss working 10 to 12 hour shifts and the hectic daily commute...My wife still works and she loves her work...

One of my daughters is a dynamic person who has a job she is very good at. Her husband is a charming fellow who works part time, but mostly looks after their daughter.
I am glad they were born in the right century to take advantage of their potential.

Wait, that's not 100% true. In the summer, our cleaning lady occasionally brings her college-age son along to help with the cleaning.

(I guess I don't know if that's doing his sex life any good. Hadn't really thought about it before.)
