I don't see you point about better training or infrastructure.
It's not the job of the officer to randomly let people get away with breaking the law. That is essentially what you are advocating. "Have a heart...." No. Have a brain. The person is breaking the law. Period. Are there exceptions? Damned few. Person is speeding, turns out pregnant woman in the car. Okay... Person speeding, "I have to pee." They should have thought about that.

If we train our officers to follow the law instead of their heart we would be better off. Beyond that we need a bigger infrastructure to support the enforcement of our laws instead of just setting by and watching CRIMINALS go free because we don't have the capacity to prosecute.

They just ask them to be smart, truthful, honest, and show a modicum of good sense." Ann Richards, Former Texas Governor

There needs to be SOME amount of leniency when it comes to tiny things--like people going over the speed limit by 5mph. There needs to be some judgments made. It's when it becomes something larger that they have to treat everyone equally.

The problem is that there is so much corruption in police forces because of how many ridiculous laws police are expected to enforce. Removing silly laws, redundant laws, and laws that declare the existence of victimless crimes should be something to seriously consider.

If police aren't having to enforce unreasonable laws, they can start to treat everyone more equally.

What sucks is having an ex that thinks it's perfectly ok for kids to experiment with drugs and alcohol...Who provides him the access to those items. And that kid thinking that if his father allows him to do it, then you should too.

Myself and my family disowned him. He's not allowed to call, come over, or have any contact with us, because of his abuse of drugs and alcohol. Till he cleans up and starts doing things right, we don't want his problems to be ours anymore.

Too many questions for me to address.

If I was a cop it would be my job to enforce the law, yes.
However, I agree legalization is long over due.
I don't smoke it, although I did a few times when I was very young. My husband used to do tree trimming as one of his many jobs over the years. He used to smoke when he was sitting up there cutting down the limbs. But he hasn't had one in years either.
It's like alcohol in that you can get addicted to it if you have that programmed in your genes, but honestly, from what I've seen it's less harmful than cigarettes.

It is human nature to want to feel a little different now and again I think. They lick frogs in the jungle. They eat bark and plants. They make alchohal. Jesus didn't turn the water in to grape juice. What is less harmful then pot?
