I would enforce the law equitably. Everyone is subject to the law. This concept was established in 1215 when the King himself had to sign the Magna Carta and admit obeisance to the law.

1. Because both officers and perpetrators are human beings not automatons.

2. Because we do not have either enough police nor enough judges and courthouses to strictly enforce every law on the books.

Neither is a justification for not enforcing the laws. Both are justifications for better training, enforcement, and infrastructure.

Actually, YES. I'd have no problem arresting a family member or friend, just as the family members I do have that are police officers have not had any problems doing the same...

In fact, I actually did a citizen's arrest on my own son, when I caught him smoking pot in my house. As well as filing charges against him for drinking in my home, as well as coming into my home drunk.

Doesn't matter to me if it's family, friend, or foe...The law is the law and I have no problems having them arrested or arresting them myself. And I expect that same dedication and actions done by police officers period.

I think police officers do a better service to the community when they act like human beings instead of like robots.

I don't see you point about better training or infrastructure.

There's a thread for that already, along with a poll attached to it.

And I voted 'for medical use only'.
