First, he lied to a federal grand jury under sworn testimony...There are actual laws against that that were already written...Second, he also obstructed justice by getting others to lie in their sworn testimony... Where can you show me a law that says Presidents(and VPs) are restricted from lying?...Three points... 1) Do you believe every person in the world has lied at some point?...I do...It's part of human nature...And presidents(and VPs) are not exempt from this... 2) I don't think any rational person could sit there and think that any president(and VPs) that ever existed went through their time in office without lying...Whether it's for national security, national interests, deceiving enemies, or sometimes even personal reasons, I'm willing to say that EVERY president(and VPs) has made an end-around on the truth at some point... 3) The press is guilty of creating an atmosphere where sometimes THEY actually lie, omit, or tell half-truths in order to get a president or VP into a corner...This is pretty new, which exposes something that's been there through every presidency but now comes to the forefront because of 24 hour media coverage, the internet, and new communications technology... Presidents of yesteryear were made to look clean and pristine because the press didn't attack them like gutting a fish...One example is the press's willingness to never photograph FDR in his wheelchair...How long would that unwritten rule last today?... ![]() If every president had to go through what current presidents have had to, JFK would've been seen as the world's biggest liar in a matter of months...

Now on the lying. Everybody lies to some degree. No doubt. It is important that on matters that could mean the death of Americans that there is no confusion. In this case they confused the situation purposely. Remember what Lincoln said about fooling some of the people. It has come home to roost. They lied for reasons of self protection from critics. They lied to go to Iraq. They lied about the threat. They diregarded many experts. like Richard Clarke, Gen. Shinseki, The weapons inspectors disagreed. I could go on and on. Suffice to say. They lied and people have died. Is that the case with Clinton? It may be with other presidents but this is today. We are in hot water internationally. Even our closest allies are quiting us. I don't want to beat down Bush/Cheney. I just want them to go.
