The better half and I put on a little weight from all the traveling this summer. Well, ok, it wasn't really the traveling so much as it was the drinking while we were traveling, but whatever. We decided that to get back on track quickly, we would go with a completely vegan diet till Thanksgiving. It's only a month.

Tonight, we are having black bean and sweet potato burgers with chili and a roasted butternut squash and kale salad.

The problem I am finding on this whole vegan kick is that I have to eat MASSIVE amounts of food just to feel satisfied. But when I count up the caloric intake, it's barely anything so I am eating all day long again.

Any vegans on the site that can tell me if that's normal?

There's NOTHING "normal" about vegans...

What is this 'vegan' you speak of? No comprende. Does not compute.

I do not trust anyone who does not like meat or the Minnesota Vikings.

Tonight I have some cream of chicken soup planned. I just make the cream of chicken soup per my Mother's recipe and then shred four or five pieces of baked chicken in it. Will probably make some hot, crusty bread to go with it.

Hey, I love meat. Nothing better on my plate than a big, bloody steak. But I have shed about 12 lbs that I gained over the summer and this is the best way to do it considering I need it to be fat and not muscle. No animal fats at all is a proven method.

But trust me on this one...I am going to do my damnest as a carnivore to gain it all back on thanksgiving.

Vegan to lose weight?? How about a smart diet of low fat meat (like elk, deer, chicken, turkey, most fish, etc.), raw grains (not raw as in uncooked, but raw as in unprocessed) and fresh fruit and veggies??

That's my usual diet anyway. Look, this isn't my idea. I am just going along with it to be supportive. It's difficult. All I want right now is a big piece of salmon or a steak. It is working though. I have lost about 3lbs since we started and only have 9 more to go.

I do think being back on my usual exercise routine is a bigger part of it though.

What I WISH I ate for dinner:

Rosemary chicken, Potatoes au gratin, baby spinach saute in olive oil and garlic, tossed salad with blue cheese salad dressing and apple pie ala mode.

What I actually had because my nephew eats at my house on friday and I try to be kid friendly:

Chicken nuggets, french fries, fried Mozzerella, broccoli, coleslaw with pineapple and brownies for dessert. blech!
