I have not been around much lately; but it is not because I have decided to no longer participate in this forum. That is simply not the case.

Last Wednesday, I saw the doctor; and he sent me immediately to the hospital.

The next day--Thursday--I had surgery on my right leg.

Friday afternoon, I came home.

I still cannot walk much--even with the walker that I now have--so I cannot get easily to my computer (which is a desktop). But when I do manage to get here, I like to interact with the folks here.

Anyway, that is why I have not been around much lately.

I hope no one is seriously upset by this absence.

The doctor said that Fosamax--which I have been taking, once a week, for quite some time--usually helps to strengthen the bones; but it can occasionally have the opposite effect.

Well, I seem to fall into the latter category.

An X-Ray showed two small fractures in my right leg--the doctor was amazed that I had been able to walk around on it--and he had me immediately put on a stretcher, and taken to the hospital, next door.

He also ordered me to immediately--immediately!--stop any usage of Fosamax.

I am gradually getting a bit better; but it is a very slow process. And my wife--who truly is a gem (I have long known that)--has been doing double duty, by taking care of me.

Unfortunately, I am unable to sleep with her at the moment; so the lounge chair has become my new bed--temporarily, anyway.

Not to the same extent, but the allergy medicine Dimetapp had that same opposite effect on me in high school...

Supposed to cause drowsiness...It got me hyped up...ended up cleaning my room at 6AM and waking my mom...She thought I was high on something...technically, I was...Haven't touched the stuff since...

Take your vitamins and get out and exercise when you are able. Don't feel bad about not sleeping with your wife, she is probably sleeping better. I have not slept in the same bed as my wife for a few years. Years of motorcycle, and other injuries make it hard for me to sleep, because of pain, I'm a very restless sleeper, so since I love my wife I sleep in my own room.

The good thing is that the pain is only at night and at 63 I'm still able to go to the gym 5 days a week, and do all my own yard work. Which probably exacerbates my pain and arthritis
but they say exercise helps arthritis, so I'm going to keep sweatin.
