Default Time Traveler’ Passes Lie Detector, Claims Machine Break Down

I found this to be extremely interesting!

He took a lie detector test and passed, and says he’s from the year 6491

Today’s new article from the Daily Mail reminds everyone one of two things, either time travel is (will be) real, or modern lie detectors are as faulty as the last Cleveland Cavs game. After James Oliver passed a lie detector test when claiming that he “is from the year 6491 but got stuck in 2018 when his time machine broke down,” there is no other conclusion. Either it is true or, perhaps by believing it himself, Oliver really traveled time.

It is hard to arrive at any third option, though if he could produce said time machine, that may help his case. APEX TV on YouTube has documented the case and many experts are left scratching their heads just as is..even with his southern accent.

With his face blurred out in the video, the alleged-time walker said, “Your years are different to mine. Where I’m from, the years are longer.” This statement is of particular interest since, as science has shown, if anything, time has sped up, not slowed down.

Then again, those calculations were from Earth. It seems that Oliver is claiming not to be. Explaining the time issue, he said “My planet is further away from the sun than yours is, so it takes longer to get around. But we have gifted mathematicians who work to calculate our years from those from other civilizations.”

Before zoning out or pondering what sized rubber room to place this gentleman in, let us remember that he just passed a test that plays a role in police investigations and federal probes. During all of his words, this must be kept in the front of the reader’s mind.

There are some problems with his story, however.

To begin with, he “has a Birmingham accent with a U.S. twang.” Just the same, he says that in the future, more species will be found more planets will be discovered, and even aliens will be proven real. While none of this, even the latter, is too much of a stretch to imagine, the fact that Oliver says that humans will be battling some of these aliens is a bit alarming for those who believe him.

The self-proclaimed time voyager said, “We are constantly finding new planets and galaxies every day. Most of it is just nothing. Sometimes you hit the jackpot and find intelligent life on it. You find new planets, new ecosystems. There are a lot of planets more intelligent than humans.”

“There have been some conflicts, but most of it has been put under control by the federation very quickly,” he said of what sounds like a space-age NATO. “The federation is there as a peacekeeping vessel.”

He even says that “a United Nations-style system of planetary leaders to ensure peace” is in place and the already disproven faux science of global warming heats up Earth to a great deal. It seems odd that a being from the future would fall for science already disproven, so therein lies another hole in his claims, lie detector or not.

I take issue with the article's author's claim that global warming has "already [been] disproved,"
That makes the entire piece suspect.

Bullsh*t...

Mentally unstable people have a MUCH better chance to beat a lie detector because they not only believe themselves, but because they won't show the same characteristics that lie detectors try to...well...detect...

Blood pressure hikes, twitches, nervousness and the like won't happen to someone with the silly-star chromosome already installed...

Lie detectors are Crap.

some people are very good lairs. This guy .. and a lot of the "aliens" leading lights are.

there's a few post elsewhere on the board of a grown that says he's a 7 year old girl. And a white woman who says she's black. so i guess we should just believe this guy since he IDs as a time traveler.

from video transcript

"...#3 – Lie Detectors Are A Lie

In the big book of Hollywood tropes, the lie detector test deserves its own special page. It’s hard to think of a crime drama without some reference to it. “He passed the lie detector test? I guess he’s innocent after all.” Or, “He failed the lie detector? Book him, Danno!”

Yeah, turns out that’s a lie, too. And one that’s been known for decades (at least). As far back as 1998 the Supreme Court noted, “There is simply no consensus that polygraph evidence is reliable: The scientific community and the state and federal courts are extremely polarized on the matter.” Decades later, the consensus is still that there is no consensus, but there is less polarization on the matter. In short: As a criminal tool, it is unreliable at best and dangerous at worst.

The fundamental lie about lie detectors is that they detect lies. They do not. They merely measure physiological responses during questioning. But no one, not even polygraph proponents, maintain that there is any telltale physiological “symptom” that the nervous system gives out when someone is lying. Instead, the theory is that the right examiner asking the right question in the right way and correctly interpreting the results in comparison to baseline examples can infer an attempt at deception.

As the Office of Technology Assessment noted in their exhaustive 1983 overview of the validity of the polygraph:

“The instrument cannot itself detect deception. Therefore, polygraph tests require the examiner to develop questions to be asked in each case, compare the physiological response (as measured by the instrument) to the different questions, and infer deception or truthfulness based on these comparisons. […] In sum, OTA [the Office of Technical Assessment] concluded that there is at present only limited scientific evidence for establishing the validity of polygraph testing. Even where the evidence seems to indicate that polygraph testing detects deceptive subjects better than chance (when using the control question technique in specific-incident criminal investigations), significant error rates are possible, and examiner and examinee differences and the use of countermeasures may further affect validity.”

And as USA Today noted in a 2002 review of the technology:

“A 1997 survey of 421 psychologists estimated the test’s average validity at about 61%, a little better than chance. And University of Utah psychologists published a 1994 report that suggested biting your tongue, pressing your toes to the floor and counting backwards by 7’s during control questions would screw up the accuracy of polygraphs.”

So if you ever find yourself being questioned by the thought police of the coming 1984 police state about whether you have ever questioned the official government story of 9/11, and they happen to be using a lie detector test on you, just remember: 42, 35, 28, 21, 14…"
