Well some of us have seen and know the feelings that go with Natures Distastes once they have left us barren... With Harvey being the worst ever to hit mainland America one questions is their more of these monsters coming?

Harvey rolls over Texas coast, smashes homes and businesses

Associated Press... By FRANK BAJAK. 33 mins ago

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Hurricane Harvey rolled over the Texas Gulf Coast on Saturday, smashing homes and businesses and lashing the shore with wind and rain so intense that drivers were forced off the road because they could not see in front of them.

The fiercest hurricane to hit the U.S. in more than a decade spun across hundreds of miles of coastline where communities had prepared for life-threatening storm surges — walls of water rushing inland.

The mammoth system made landfall late Friday about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northeast of Corpus Christi as a Category 4 storm with 130 mph (209 kph) winds. It gradually weakened over several hours to Category 1 but remained destructive, with sustained winds of 90 mph (144 kph).

No deaths were immediately reported. High winds kept emergency crews out of many places, and authorities said it could be hours before emergency teams are able to fully assess damage.

Aside from the wind and a storm surge of up 12 feet, the hurricane posed a grave risk of flooding, with a potential to hug the coast for days and drop as much as 40 inches of rain on dangerously flood-prone flatlands.

Texas is still trying to fight back with all Harvey has done in down south of me.
And this trill of coming news. Irma is excepted to be another big one.

Irma expected to be hurricane by week's end

MIAMI — Tropical Storm Irma picked up strength Wednesday and is expected to become a hurricane by Thursday or Friday, making it the fourth hurricane of an increasingly busy season.

In their latest advisory, National Hurricane Center forecasters said sustained winds had reached 60 mph as the storm rolls west at 15 mph.

While it's too early to tell what threat Irma may pose to Florida or the U.S. coast, it has the potential to gain significant strength as it crosses warm tropical Atlantic waters — sea surface temperatures are more than 2 degrees Fahrenheit above normal — and encounters weak wind shear.

Our local August has been real nice, not what I remember as typical Aug., in the flats..

National Hurricane Center: Tropical Storm Harvey makes 2nd landfall just west of Cameron, Louisiana

Associated Press, 18 hrs ago...

© (AP Photo/David J. Phillip) Homes are flooded near the Addicks Reservoir as floodwaters from Tropical Storm Harvey rise Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, in Houston. The National Hurricane Center says Harvey is back on land after coming ashore early Wednesday just west of Cameron, Louisiana.

The tropical storm is expected to weaken and continue to the north. The storm returned to land about 5 miles (8 kilometers) west of Cameron with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph (72 kph).

Center meteorologist Dennis Feltgen said Tuesday that when Harvey came back to shore, "it's the end of the beginning."

Harvey is forecast to drop substantial amounts of rain on Louisiana before moving on to Arkansas, Tennessee and parts of Missouri, which could also see flooding.

Feltgen said there's still a lot of residents in multiple states "who are going to feel the impacts of the storm."

Harvey first made landfall Friday in Texas as a Category 4 hurricane.

Center of what's left of Irma will pass several hundred miles west of us here in NC. However, radar map shows lots of rain coming our way. Currently, very overcast and grey with occasional gusts of wind.
