Unhappy Tornado Saturday night was too close.

A tornado hit my neighbor's farm at the end of my road and took out his barn and leveled trees for miles. Hit another house and destroyed it but nobody was home and despite all the destruction no injuries. Was 1.6 miles from my house. Too dang close and the wild part is the warnings had expired almost an hour earlier. It ran for 14 miles and raised and touched down 3 times.

Knowing Bill, he's probably been helping with the clean up.

Saw the Amish greenhouses that were hit by it today. Folded the tubing right over and the plastic is most likely wrapped around some trees somewhere. Saw another farm that has 2 trees on the farm house and a half dozen calf huts obliterated. They lost 5 calves and another neighbor lost 7 sheep. One cow had to be put down because debris was driven into her bad.

They have my neighbors barn rebuilt as a loafing barn which is basically a big feeding area. He asked me to dig water lines with my backhoe and bust out some old concrete where the new waterers will go. Seems the tornado uprooted some trees back by the spring and broke the water line from it. He had a well drilled and wants it connected to the waterers and run under the road to the mobile home his boy was living in till the storm hit. Got about 1/2 of it dug this afternoon but now it is dig and find for the pipe under the road they put in about 15 years ago. He told me to just do what i need to find it and get it hooked up. At least he has somebody else doing the pump and hookups. I have too much going on here and at the old neighbor lady who died farm to do it all.

Ended up running 10 hrs. on the machine but everything is in and covered. After this weekend it would have been frozen lumps if we did not get it done. They were running wire for the pump and the water bowl heaters when I picked up my machine this afternoon. Stopped at the Amish neighbor and cleaned out outside of his barn door so the water could run away from the barn.
