Default Sorry I haven't been here much....

I haven't really been on any political forums lately. I've sort-of gotten burned out on politics IN GENERAL for a little while--it's DEFINITELY not this forum. I primarily go on political forums to try to learn other political perspectives and to try to share mine, and if I constantly see a side not being brought up, I tend to bring them up. Lately, I've seen everyone's side being argued, and I haven't been seeing any new perspective, and things have really been starting to feel like old news everywhere I go. I don't know whether it's burnout or what, but I haven't really felt like arguing about things anymore. I guess I'm at a point now where arguing about things that I really have no control over just seems like a waste of time.

And that's how I pretty much feel about politics--it's something we have no control over. We can talk all we want and it really doesn't mean anything anymore. The only chance people have in making change is in local government and those changes don't really affect the big picture in any significant way--it would take someone's entire lifetime to even see a smijen of change in the bigger picture. Yes, I've become a lot more cynical about things, and I just want to stop worrying or wondering about what the government is doing and focus more on doing something significant with my life while I still can.

So, sorry I haven't been here much, nothing against any of you or this forum in any way--I've just not really cared much about politics anymore. Politics in general seems to primarily consist of gossip and unsubstantiated opinions, with loose-sleeved cherrypicked facts thrown in for good measure to prove a point in a similar manner as the Bible used to be thrown in as an argument to continue enforcing slavery, or like me using religious references to make a point right now in this very long run-on sentence. It seems like a waste of time to argue about politics. It's even more of a waste of time to argue about religion.

Over the past couple weeks, I've seen people's friendships come to an end over religious and political issues, and I guess I've had enough negativity in my life to feel like I'm spreading it around in a negative manner or to be some sort of conduit for negativity--I want to focus most of my energy into my music and my band.

This is not a "I'm leaving" post, not AT ALL, it's just to let you know that I probably won't be very involved in political discussions for a while. I'll still be around. Please know that I'm not trying to ignore anyone.

Thanks.

Everyone has their ebbs and tides with forums (much like anything else)...can't expect a baseball player to be 100% motivated every single time he goes to the ballpark...Sometimes the mind is elsewhere...

It's understood K-dog...real life butts in...batteries need to be recharged...sh*t happens...

No need to apologize...

Hey you gotta live your own life, right?
There was a time in my life for about two years I didn't even read the news paper, much less watch the news. In my case the negative news had just gotten to be too much for me. I had stuff going on in my personal life I had to take care of.
And the cycles in politics are more exciting for different people at different times.
But as a member of this forum, I want you to know I appreciate
your frankness and thoughtfulness in not just leaving us wondering "What ever happened to Kizzume?"

Good luck with your band! Post a video or note if you have time and let us know how that's going!

Today Trump tweeted that French polls show that just 26% approve of Macron.

What he forgot to mention is that these same polls show that 84% of French citizens believe Trump is 'racist', 83% say he's "dangerous" and 79% say he's "incompetent"

Thanks for pointing the polls out!

It will fire up again. Once the candidates start getting in to it. Obama/McCain. But I'm ready to vote and in the words of the late Mills Lane. "Lets get it on"

Kizzume,I can relate well to everything you said.I've been involved in politics for nearly 40 years.I'm drawn to politics like a moth to the flame.I do get frustrated at times because I believe we could use more compromise where compromise is possible. It has always been my hope that open and honest discussion could lead to change but that means that we must be open to new ideas and adapting to our ever changing world.Thank you for your thoughtful letter and again,I do know how you feel.

I can relate. Right now, I tend to just read alot of the forums and not respond to many. But there are other topics on these forums to have general chit chat on, while the others continue their rants.

Stick around...
