Boston MA-- The new senator from Massachusetts was involved in a bizarre car accident last night in Chappaquiddick. Senator Scott Brown was giving an aide a ride home late last night when the car accidentally went off the Chappaquiddick Bridge and into the bay. No one was killed or injured in the freak accident.

Senator Brown was driving his aide, Mr. Joe Kopeck, when the accident occurred. The senator reported there was a very strong smell of whiskey in the car before he lost control. He told me it seemed "like a ghost just grabbed the steering wheel and before I knew it we hit the water."

Senator Brown is credited with saving Mr. Kopeck's life. Apparently the senator escaped from the car first but dove back into the chilly waters to save his friend. The senator immediately reported the accident and is expected to be given an award for bravery at a later date.

Senator Brown has no explanation for the odor of whiskey in the car and both men tested negative for alcohol consumption.

The senator plans to take a few days off to recover from the accident. He told friends he is fine except for "a strange desire to call Senator Chis Dodd and get roaring drunk on whiskey."
