Re: Ultimately violence will be necessary, says Occupy L.A. speaker
Who is that guy whose tape you picked? Some foreigner, who has been here so little time, he has a heavy accent? For whom does he speak? Not for me! Certainly not for this movement. The huge bulk of these people will NEVER get violent. That is not how they wish to represent themselves. we wish to represent ourselves.
I feel strongly for these people. This movement is not corporate-led or corporate-stimulated. These are the great washed masses of unemployed who may as well occupy Wall Street with some of the time they'd rather be employed during. If they had jobs, the crowds would be much thinner. But people do not have jobs, while corporate ceo bonuses continue to increase!
These are the baby boomers and their kids out there marching. It is not for conservative or liberal values, it is for pointing out that the current tax policies do not lead to jobs, or else we would have them. The top 1% have taken unfair advantage to wrest a huge advantage with their "people", er, I mean corporations.
The Republicans in Congress have refused to do anything while Obama is president. I say, people who do not believe in a good govt, should not have anything to do with joining the govt! We have a bunch of republicans who are not there to run the country, but are spending their time stalling Congress and everything Obama wishes to accomplish.
I say keep govt-haters out of the govt! Govt is a serious responsibility that should be undertaken respectfully and with attention to detail. I am sick of govt haters trying to run things. It is like the old racist stereotype of the Chinese driver in San Francisco. Racing down the steepest hills with eyes closed and one foot on the brake and one on the gas......
Out govt is a magnificent creation that has shown itself to actually work, when the directions on the box are followed. What congress has done for the last four years is break every direction on the box. Filibustering everything! Delaying appointments! The current crop of tea party lawmakers are about to get their butts kicked. I believe we have handed them enuff rope and by golly, they used it to hang themselves, rather than find ways to make govt work better. They waste time trying to fight health care and SS and gay marriage instead of using the govt to do big things, like renew the intfrastructure of the country, create new monuments, make our internet, energy companies and all enterprise reflect the latest and best in the world, instead of this boring stall.
I think the Occupy Wall Street crowd wants better things to do than have to protest the Wall Street Corporate mentality running Congress!
