Default House Democrats to release 'Medicare for All' bill — without a price tag

The Democrat proposal for Medicare for all was supposed to be released last Wednesday. True to form it doesn't have a means to pay for the glittering list of benefits.

Quote:
Progressive House Democrats will unveil their much-hyped “Medicare for All” legislation Wednesday, providing the most detailed blueprint yet for how they would upend the health care system to guarantee coverage for every American — a long-sought progressive dream that is already shaping the Democratic race to challenge President Donald Trump.

The bill, co-sponsored by just over 100 House Democrats, doesn’t include a price tag or specific proposals for financing the new system, which analysts estimate would cost tens of trillions of dollars over a decade. The lead sponsor, Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal, said she will release a separate list of suggested funding mechanisms, including a tax on high earners or mandated employer contributions.
All the giveaways and none of the pain of paying for it. Vote yes or no on free medical care for all without paying for it.

Typical liberal. Freebies for all, funding to be named later. It occurs to me that by transferring the focus to Medicare, the Dems are admitting that Obamacare is a non salvageable plan.

The scary part is that nearly half the house Democrats have the guts to sign on to this. Nearly a third signed on to the New Green Deal. Another unfunded plan.

AOC at least proposed a funding plan. "Taxes first, then government". Makes sense to me.

They will just do what they always do, raise taxes on the rich (meaning those fortunate enough to still have jobs once their policies are enacted) and then start the presses to print more money. It may not grow on trees, but they believe that printing presses are the next best thing.

I pay about $30,000 a year for health insurance, plus a significant chunk of my law firm's profits that would otherwise be available for distribution to partners like me is used to pay for health insurance for employees. I'm fairly certain that I would pay less than that in taxes if this plan were implemented.

Somebody is paying for all the costs of healthcare today and the total cost for Medicare for all will be lower than the total cost of the current system. This is a cost allocation problem, not a funding source issue.

It very well might, but it would be highly unlikely. However what would be sure to change is the level of care you would receive if needed. You need look no further than Canada or the UK to see how care is rationed in a single payer system. If you are not dying, your wait to see a doctor is not days, but months. By then, depending upon the illness for which you seek service, you very well could then be dying.

rw'rs can't do math and repeat the same old tired talking points.
I am happy the Dems are moving forward to show the voters what they stand for.

Why don't you show us the correct math then. What I do know is that the government couldn't hold a bake for under $10 million. Everything the government does is buried in red tape and takes millions of dollars to do anything. That's why you hear of stories of hammers costing $2000.

That study going around on Bernie Sanders' 'Medicare for All' plan comes with a big catch — the US would actually be saving money overall on healthcare-
