what's your beef again...?
You seem to have a personal anecdotal story about almost every situation and then use that as a means to say that big government is great based on your experience.

I too have family that have had experience with the VA. My step-bother was paralyzed while in the Navy and was brought to the Cleveland VA some years ago. When he got there, I went for a visit. Talk about a 3rd world experience.

The halls were cluttered with old, outdated beds, chairs other equipment. The floors were dirty, the rooms were filthy and the nurses and doctors were very rude, when you could find them.

So to parrot your method of debate, my experience was horrific when dealing with a government run healthcare system. I is horrible that they treated by step-brother and every other veteran this way. I cannot imagine the government doing that to the rest of us.

I'm sure many of us can relate negative experiences with Medicare and the VA.

My Uncle at 72 was in a tractor accident. Broke some ribs. A Type I diabetic he knew his meds when to take them and when and what to eat. The VA staff would not comply and 7 days later he died in a coma.
The worst was my son in the Navy who broke both legs in a training drill. Had to drive himself to the local hospital for treatment as the New London CT Sub base did not have funds under Clinton to treat him. Or pay his taxi fare. As submariner he had no reason to own a car and the taxi service shut down at 4:00. Beside how could he drive, his LEGS WERE BROKEN.

Or my FIL who fell off a roof at 88 years and broke his collar bone. It was exposed through the skin yet over two hours in the ER without treatment or triage. I went to the office to find out that they were trying to avoid Medicare and get him to the VA. Some 45 minutes away. I told them three things were gonna happen.

One) They would treat him immediately and
Two) Cut the crap, I would pay cash and then
Three) I would be calling my attorney

Two and three were not necessary. A doctor overheard my rant took one look at Dad and sent the bean counting bureaucrat gatekeeper packing.

I could go on.

Mass distribution and production of health care services metered out on rules created thousands of miles away, by people who have to meet budgets to get promoted, never bode well for the consumer. That's why insurance companies get bad reviews. The very companies the Democrats want us to now believe, should hold that power.

It is not cheaper, it is certainly not "free" and it will never compare to competitive service provided by local practitioners who actually care.

BTE ; Dad spent that night under the care of three adoring nurses telling them war stories and jokes. He was never left alone all night.
