A Doctors explaines why our HC is in Crisis

This was forwarded to my in box.. I got it twice from two different people. So others believe this is one if not the main reason for our Health "Culture" Crisis.

Quote:

This doctor says it all. If only Washington would listen…….View of a Young Doctor.

If you doubt any part of what Dr. Jones says, go visit your local hospital emergency room as an observer for an hour or so some Friday or Saturday night.See how many responsible people you can send this to!

Pictured below is a young physician by the name of Dr. Starner Jones. His short two-paragraph letter to the White House accurately puts the blame on a

"Culture Crisis" instead of a "Health Care Crisis."It's worth a quick read:

Dear Mr. President:

During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B ringtone.

While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that her payer status was listed as "Medicaid!"

During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes everyday and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer.

And, you and our Congress expect me to pay for this woman's health care? I contend that our nation's "healthcare crisis" is not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses.

Rather, it is the result of a "crisis of culture,"a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance.

It is a culture based on the irresponsible credo that "I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me.

"Once you fix this "culture crisis" that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you'll be amazed at how quickly our nation's health care difficulties will disappear.Respectfully,STARNER JONES
What opinions do you have about this Doctors quest to right a wrong and improve the Health of our nation?

That is if you believe this is real. Now I do note that he hasn't worked in any rural areas. As in these location they are losing their hospitals because of this very thing And the states lack of funds to reverse the situation.

Here in Topeka, KS. we just had St. Francis Hospital lose it Colo., backer because this hospital serves all people including the ones that can't afford to pay.
Lucky enough it did find new backers to stay open. And this isn't the situation in many rural locations, as many do lose their local hospitals do to lack of funds..

Thanks for sharing that with us.

This is EXACTLY what most conservatives have been talking about for years. Our society promotes irresponsible behavior in it's culture through entertainment, advertising and political policies. Some of it is in the name of Political Correctness in that we can't possibly condemn the actions of others when they act out in this manner.

Unfortunately, we have a major political party that considers this culture part of their base. They know they can "buy" their votes by providing this safety net while ignoring their actions and subscribing to the notion that it is not the individuals responsibility to provide for their own healthcare, rent, cell phone, food, etc. After all, their last candidate for POTUS once proclaimed, "It takes a village." Her contention is that is the communities job to provide for the individual. That is a far cry from Kennedy stating "Ask not what your country can do for you; Ask what can you do for your country."

What is the obesity rate of Trump voters, how many of them smoke?

Preventative medicine should be the focus of any healthcare system, unfortunately there is no profit in it. I am trying to think, have I ever seen a young white person with a gold tooth, wonder why the imaginary letter writer threw that in there? I wonder if there really is an ER Doc named Starner Jones, because he probably has HIPPA issues to handle now.

There really is a Doctor Starner Jones. I checked, but this letter has been floating around since at least 2009.

Less than Democrats, who don't work, are on the dole and don't take care of them selves. Yup Democrats fit that bill way better than a Republican, who has to pay for the Democrat... :mad

I see that you completely glossed over the points made in the letter. Instead, you used it as an opportunity to attack those that voted for a candidate that you don't like. I thought you were better than that.

As for you assertion of focusing on preventative care, do you think the person that this doctor was talking about focused on preventative care? If not, what would you propose we change to force someone to do that?

How about instead of attacking the article, you address the points made by the author whether or not the story is true, which as far as I can tell, you have no way of proving one way or the other.

Stop it. The gold tooth was there for a reason. This letter is simply circulated among the white conservatives to get them all fired up against "them people", when in reality, they are just as fat and unhealthy as them gold toothed people.

So that is your focus, WHO CARES? Somehow, you know the author of the letter is lying. If so, please post your evidence. Would you have believed it if the patient had been an overweight white guy, with a Trump tee shirt?

But instead of that, how about addressing the points that were made? Whether or not this is a true story does not change the fact that these issues do exist. You can ignore them all you want, but until issues like this are addressed, people like this, regardless of race, will continue to be a drag on our economy and healthcare system.

Did the Dr say he was an overweight white guy? No, he focused on a gold tooth for a reason. This is far too stupid and obvious to talk about. In this case the racism is obvious and this letters circulation for the last 8 years or so would make a good thread discussing the racism of the right, who keep it alive and going around, you know, in case they forget "them people" are trying to get that there free health care. Arguing about it is just dumb. I never should have responded to such a blatantly racist thread.
