Default The new wave of female firebrands striking fear into liberal America

She is a striking brunette with a decidedly outspoken attitude. She lambasts President Barack Obama as a socialist and has become the darling of America's right-wing activists who flock to her appearances. She is hated by liberals and loved by conservatives.

Sarah Palin? Not quite. Meet Michele Bachmann, a Republican congresswoman from Minnesota who is being hailed as a new and increasingly powerful voice in American politics.

Bachmann, at 53, is a darling of the so-called Tea Party movement, which has campaigned vociferously against healthcare reform, the economic stimulus package and legislation to combat climate change. Her followers have been behind mass rallies in Washington and smaller ones all over the country. She has emerged as one of the most visible politicians in America, frequently appearing on the conservative Fox News channel, whose hosts often champion her causes.

She is part of an increasingly visible "female brand" of conservatism that is rising in America in the wake of the election of Obama. They include notable syndicated commentators such as Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter, whose dislike for liberals has grown ever more shrill in recent months. And, of course, Palin herself. She is still a giant of the political and media landscape and next week embarks on a book tour to sell her autobiography. It has already sparked a media frenzy, with a heavily hyped appearance on Oprah Winfrey's show, and become a huge bestseller on pre-orders alone.

The new wave of female firebrands striking fear into liberal America | World news | The Observer

================================================== =====

The republican party has been in need of new blood and leadership, the men of late have proven to be afraid of their own shadows and won't speak up. Today however is a new dawning in the party and it is the lady's who are taking the lead, much to the chagrin of the men and liberals.

Liberals have always touted women in politics, that is of course if they were conservative women, then they were to be scorned and vilified. We know a double standard when we see one and we have seen how the liberals are already trying to demonize Ms. Bachmann. This too will not go unnoticed by true conservatives and hopefully they can reorganize the republican party into what it once was, a great and noble party!

I've always liked an outspoken and attractive woman myself. Liberals not so much. Leftwing misogynists have smeared women like Michele Bachman and Sarah Palin since the day they began to stand out from the crowd. I suspect its not just their politics that threatens the left.

They are all yours mate. If thats how you want your party led have at it. I approve.

BTW. Being a republican has zero to do with being conservative. How many years after the death of the last real conservative in the party do those on the right get to claim that title? The right hasn't been conmservative in decades. So stop confusing yourselves and trying to confuse the world that your party is something they aren't. We all know better.

Thanks, but its not my party. Of the two of us the one who is confused here is you. I agree with you that being a republican has little to do with being a conservative. One can be a conservative without being a republican but one cannot be a conservative without being on the right.

As for trying to confuse the world as to what the party is, when will the democrats own up to what they really are, Mikey?

That's a good observation.

Actually you are wrong. I am conservative in many of my beliefs and I am on the left. I even have some social conservatism in me. For example I think there are too many Viagra commercials on TV. Too much sex. To much foul language. I believe in a close tyo zero tax rate for companies that produce jobs. I could go on and on. You point out what I think is our biggest problem in America. Partisanship. We split the country into two teams and dare not agree on anything. I am a democrat. The reasons I am a democrat are varied. I think we spend too much time attacking each other. You and I just like many on this site can argue to the extreme. But take the partisan attacks out and I have found that two intelligent people regardless of party can work out comprimizes. But over that last bunch of years its become even harder to get that done. The reason McCain and Obama became the heads of their tickets is because they were the least partisan of the groups and people are sick of partisanship. Well, Many of us are.

Why is it every liberal tries to convince me that he's really a closet conservative?

Anyway, I like partisanship. I don't want to be a partner with the left. The left is the real enemy of my country. Nothing personal Mikey but I'm done with compromises.

We are two separate tribes. I've said before on here that I want a divorce from the blue states. I'd be happy to split the country along the lines of the last election red/blue. I think that is where we are headed. I'd like to do it now.

Well that is fine with me too. I'll take the coasts and you can have the red states. . I would do it in a heartbeat. You want Montana, Texas, South Carolina etc. They are all yours. See told you we can find agreement.

The red states would never see lobster or crab again...

Meanwhile, the blue states would have no energy considering the red states supply the coal...

Deal!...
