Liberal bullying....

If a liberal has an idea and a conservative doesn't like, it's "hate". Reverse the roles and it's "speaking truth to power". If you support an idea and I don't agree with it, who are you to tell me that I should just shut up and accept it?? That's the attitude from the left: "Shut up and don't disagree with us!!"

Something makes me think you will survive liberal bullying.

I think some peoples notions are stuck in the 60' and 70's when it come to descibing the parties. I am a liberal. I believe in enough taxes to pay our bills. I believe our bills consist of anything the majority decides they want to pay for. I support the military. I support controlling the border. I think that we should keep God out of our politics and government. I believe in regulating business so they don't get so big their failure can hurt my country. I believe in extending a hand of friendship to our enemies.
Now what the hell is so bad about being a liberal? In fact I would say the same about conservatism. I have no problem with real conservatism. I hate social conservatism. Yes I do. And so should any real conservative. I would support Goldwaters view of conservatism. Not Karl Rove's or Cheney's. I support probably 90% of what a real conservative does.
I am not afraid of government doing some things that the private sector has not done well. Unless someone can show me a better plan.
So as I see it we really shouldn't have so much hate between the parties. Maybe some of it stems from our own ridiculous stereotypes.

I did read the post and you said......I quote; "School is supposed to be liberal." You said nothing about kicking around ideas liberally. However, that is not what is happening on todays campus's is it? No, you have leftist professors spewing their socialist ideas as if they were fact. You have leftist professors who spew their anti-American rhetoric. You have colleges and university's deciding what you can say and if you don't conform to their way of thinking you are ordered into tolerance training class to make sure you are PC. You have campus's around the country where anytime a conservative is invited to speak the left comes out in force to shut him/her down under the guise of hate speech.

Mikeyy I realize that you want to live your life with rose colored glasses on and that a little socialism doesn't bother you, but it bothers me and others as well.

When Bush was president we were constantly told by you lefties that we were heading down the road of fascism and that Bush was Hitler. Now that the shoe is one the other foot you're screaming like a little school girl who had her pig tails dripped in an ink well. Deal with it OK! Obama is a socialist and so are most of the dems, and our country was not founded on those communist style values.

So whatever happened to "speak truth to power" or standing up for the rights of the minority?? Are those ideals no longer part of the liberal "platform"? Were all of the peace marches just a few fringe-dwellers?? Was the whole civil rights movement just a flash in the pan??? Liberals have been the voices of dissent against abuse of position/power for decades, but now that the position/power is in thier hands, suddenly there's no problem with people having too much power, there's no problem with the majority silencing the voice of the minority?

I just figured out your problem. You think "Liberal" is a word created by the right. Listen very carefully I will try to explain the word.

Liberal= Generous, openhanded, broadminded, munificent

And we wonder why our colleges produce less than well educated people as many other western/Asian countries colleges. Far to long our schools of higher education have failed to keep up with other countries in the western/Asian world. Bill gates puts PC's in many schools yet goes before congress for more visas to get quality workers. Now why is that?
And I thought when I went to community college it was to learn something. Mrlib were do have a lot in common...
