Default The bias of the January 6 Commission

A rather reasonable case can be made, I think, that Donald Trump egged on the crowd on January 6, 2021; his proclamation that these people should protest "peacefully" seemed a bit late--and perfunctory.

But the January 6 Commission--peopled entirely by Democrats, plus two Never Trumpers--does not seem intent upon finding the truth, in a fair and disinterested manner. Rather, it seems prosecutorial in nature; and that particularly disturbs me.

Remember, the question here is not whether Donald Trump did anything wrong on 1/6/21--I think that he could surely have done better--but whether the Commission is truly unbiased, or prosecutorial in nature.

And it appears to me that it is the latter.

Comments?

Understand this...

1) NOT ONE person on the commission was put there by a Republican...

In fact, Republicans put forth people for the commission and Nancy Pelosi rejected them...

2) For every "witness" pushed by the commission, NOT ONE person on the commission has questioned, verified, or corroborated anything a witness says...

3) ALSO, there have been ZERO questions from any "defense" attorneys...

By law, trials have to have due process, but this commission is not a trial, so they DON'T require due process, but not having one is 100% unethical and deceptive...

I've given the amount of time to watch and listen to this commission as it deserves, and that would be ZERO. This is nothing but an extension of the clown show that the Dems have made DC.

Despite repented denials by committee members that the select lynch mob is not conducting a trial Liz Cheney is complaining that President Trump is "tampering" with upcoming witnesses. Gosh Liz, if it's a trial what about the rights accorded the accused? Oh wait, it's a KGB show trial the Bad Orange man doesn't deserve due process.

There is no "accused." This is a fact-finding exercise. Those facts have been and will continue to show that Trump and his team were complicit in attempts to overturn the results of an election he lost. The facts uncovered by the committee have clearly demonstrated that that conduct violated several federal statutes, but when they are accused of actual crimes, it'll take place in court and they'll have every opportunity to defend themselves.

That's hilarious. Do you do stand-up comedy in your spare time?

Just because those facts demonstrate that your guy was a domestic enemy of the US constitution doesn’t make them any less true.

The fact that you believe the Jan 6th committee is after something that resembles the truth, is hilarious. They are there for 1 thing only, to prevent Trump from running for POTUS again. The truth is so far down their list of items to get to that it doesn't make the top 100. This is nothing but a smear Trump committee and not worthy of my time.

But you keep hanging your hat on your hatred for Trump. That should keep you warm at night.

Virtually every witness at these public hearings has been a Trump supporter. All of them, Republican state officials, Trump administration personnel, Trump-supporting rioters, etc., have painted a clear picture of a concerted two-month-long campaign by Trump to overturn the results of an election that he lost (and that they all knew that he had lost) by multiple illegal means, to the point of inciting an armed mob to attack Congress to prevent the certification of his loss. It was the most direct and serious attack on the US Constitution by a sitting president in American history. The evidence has made a compelling case that Trump should be in a federal prison in 2024 and not back in the White House.
