![]() Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY) ranted, just the other day, that gun-control legislation must be passed; and if the Republicans filibuster it in the Senate, then Democrats will abolish the filibuster; if the Supreme Court finds it unconstitutional, then Democrats will simply expand (i.e. pack) the Supreme Court.
Not that he is the first person to suggest this burn-down-our-institutions theory: In 2020, Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey stated much the same thing; his state colleague, Elizabeth Warren, suggested the expansion of the SCOTUS in late 2021. And Mazie Hirone previously added herself to the list of those who wish to abolish the filibuster. Of course, none of this is likely to happen. (And if it did, the Democrats would soon enough find the change uncongenial to their own interests.) But it is really sad to see so many people, nowadays, taking an "end justifies the means" approach--to anything...

![]() Lol. So, I take it the answer is that you were perfectly happy with McConnell’s “ends justify the means” approach to blocking the Garland nomination. Your “concerns” are just rank hypocrisy. You don’t care about norms. You just care about the Republicans losing their power.
