Default Pennsylvania teen had his hands up when fatally shot by State Police

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...video-rcna5626

Quote:
STROUDSBURG, Pa. — A Chinese American teenager who was fatally shot by Pennsylvania State Police last year had his hands in the air when troopers opened fire, new videos reveal, prompting calls for an independent investigation.

The videos, recorded by the State Police, show the final moments of Christian Hall’s life on the afternoon of Dec. 30, 2020.

Hall, 19, who had been diagnosed with depression, was standing on the ledge of a highway overpass near Stroudsburg, in northeastern Pennsylvania, when troopers arrived. They tried to persuade him to get down, but when they saw he had a gun — later determined to be a realistic pellet gun — they backed away.

Video previously released by the Monroe County district attorney shows Hall raising his hands in the air, with the gun in one hand, after a trooper fired bullets that struck the bridge.

But the final seconds before he was killed were blurred by authorities.

When the cops tell you to drop the gun you drop the gun. It doesn't matter if you are holding your hands up. Because as long as he is still holding the gun it takes less than a second for him to point that gun at the and shoot at them when they go to approach him. If he dropped the gun, had his hands up and they still shot him then yeah that would have been unjustified.

He was still holding onto the weapon after being told numerous times to drop it. You can see 2 minutes and 40 seconds into the unredacted video that show he was still holding the gun when cops finally shot him.

Not relevant. The fact is he was holding a weapon. He was told numerous times to drop that weapon and failed to do so.

I might have done the same if trained to; I dunno. I do know the ripple effect in the cops' mental health is very relevant as is the boy's.

Knowing that all it takes is a split second for a armed suspect to kill you and others with a weapon there is no "might have". You would do exactly the same thing they done if you had their training, experience or maybe just had some common sense.

He wasn't a suspect. He was standing on a bridge trying to commit suicide b4 cops coaxed him off. Then one of them saw the gun. Thinking it was real they point guns at him. He put up his hands far above his head but still holding the pellet gun.
This is why policing needs an update. There are so many things modern study and technology can input.
Why didn't they just leave? They weren't in any danger. Why didn't they grab a bull horn and hide in their cars while someone summoned his parents or doctor?

He was still holding the weapon that he refused to drop. When cops tell you to drop the weapon, drop the gun or drop the whatever then you drop it. It doesn't matter if you are holding a pellet, nerf gun or what ever.

So you want police to spend precious time determining if its a firearm or pellet gun.

Why didn't they just leave?
You think cops should leave a armed person who is not mentally well alone to his own devices?

They weren't in any danger.
You seem to be under the misconception that pellet guns are toys and therefore harmless. These things can injure someone and depending on where they hit can be deadly. Some of the newer models are also very lethal.

1.So he can shoot them too?
2.I know you probably get your "gun facts" from Hollywood, but a car won't stop a bullet. If they are hiding behind the engine block sure it might stop a bullet.

The truth is, car doors do not offer protection against bullets. Car doors only give you concealment but not cover.

Considering Hall's failure to drop the gun (pellet can look as real, and be just as deadly as a real gun) was quite possibly a 'suicide by cop'.

Good idea, bring in his parents or a doctor so he'll have more targets.
