The situation is, perhaps, and outgrowth of the leniency modern parents that have been programed to utilize in raising "modern" children. Dr Spock once lamented his hands off don't spank advice was a mistake. Butthe situation is woprse than just a soft hand on the cradle. It's bad social programing in mass.

It is taken for granted in some liberal quarters, and large parts of corporate America, that showing respect for transgender adults requires acquiescing to the demands of adolescents.

The policy primarily affecting young women is the move, in the name of observing transgender rights, of enabling teenage girls to undergo irreversible surgery to become transgender men.

The number of young women insisting they're really men has skyrocketed in recent years, leading some to wonder whether there has been some vast change in human behavior. Wiser folk have reflected that adolescent girls are enormously susceptible to trends, the more shocking to their elders, the better. Once upon a time, the trend was anorexia; now, it is sexual dysphoria.

Many young women who have transitioned as adolescents now have regrets as adults. Many surgeries and drug treatments are not entirely reversible.

The same stories are reflected in many young men. We are not talking so much about the small percentage of genuine gender dysphoric young adults who have a natural tendency to be sexually confused. This is a real medical condition with hopeful psychologies and yes, even surgeries, to help natural and real cases. I am talking about social pressure trending and unrestrained, if not socially encouraged, exploration into sex alteration. And parents virtually nutered by social pressure constraints and even such "helpful" agencies as Family Services.

Again, we see a society, and particularly its educated elite, lacking the will to impose constraints on the behavior of adolescents.

Children, adolescents, and adults all need constraints of various kinds. I would refer to them and sensible boundaries of behavior in place such that interactions are relatively safe.

Sadly most people come to recognize that happiness and satisfaction come not so much from the enjoyment of pleasure as from the performance of duty. Sadly, a life without constraints is most often not a dream but a nightmare.

No, but they can serve as a warning to those willing to look realistically at what is being shown.

For example, a couple of years ago a somewhat distant relative of my wife, was having a surprise party for their 80 year old mother. As by wife was still in contact with this person and a couple of siblings, we along with my three children were invited to attend.

When we got there, we were surrounded by a group of people that included alcoholics, drug addicts (meth, heroin, god knows what) and maybe a full set of teeth between the group. Needless to say, my family stood out amongst the group.

After we left, all three of my children thanked by wife and I for being stern and involved with most aspects of their life while they were growing up and not allowing them to run down the same path as some (most) of the people at the party had traveled.

This reminds me of a saying "It could be that the purpose of your life is only to server as a warning to others." That could apply in this case.
