To be fair republicans never had any intention of passing any covid relief bill period. Because before the Georgia election hell froze over and Nancy Pelosi actually passed a clean stimulus bill increase. Mitch McConnel said no. So as a result democrats had a easier time winning those races in Georgia, McConnel lost control and the stimulus increase happened anyway but attached to a large pork spending bill. The thing with politicians on both sides of the isle is that if its money being spent on shit they want then all of a sudden we got unlimited funds. IF its money being spent on shit they don't want then they pretend are broke and can't spare the money. As ignorant as many voters are when it comes to politics they do understand that fact.
You think Manchin will stand up to the pressure of the radicals running the Democrat party? Please. First they'll be all nice and slather it up with pork. The folks back home are used to their Senator extorting Federal $ for his vote. If that doesn't work call him a racist, fund a primary challenger and threaten his committee asignments. Democrats are serious about party loyalty, Republicans could take a lesson.

The Republicans that met with Kim Jung Biden proposed a Covid-19 relief bill with a $600 billion price tag. Biden simply ignored their proposal, why shouldn’t he Democrats including the so-called moderate Manchin voted in lockstep for Biden’s massive and unnecessary slush fund and the same Republicans will grovel before him begging for scraps in the next orgy of spending.

This is because most politicians--in fact, almost all of them nowadays--view politics as their chosen career.

If I were a politician, I would do what I personally thought was right; and if the voters wished to vote me out next time around--or even primary me--well, then so be it.

In fact, I would view politics as a detour from my chosen career--rather than as the career itself.

Not saying anyone is a Nazi...Just pointing out the historical stupidity of the argument...

A lighter example...

Approval for Nancy Pelosi CONTINUALLY is under water, nationally, but that doesn't count in district voting, where she CONTINUALLY gets 70%+ approval on election day...

AND as a side note...

The "majority support" for policies doesn't mean squatola when the media pushes the lies of the policies themselves...Just shows a ton of people are too stupid to not be duped...

Exactly. The media will do a poll asking people if they like clean drinking water and then claim that a majority of people support their bill. Polls are simply a way to get people to say what politicians want them to say.
