Default Joe Biden and the possible expansion of the SCOTUS

Joe Biden has now announced (well, said in passing, anyway) that he will let us all know, very soon--before the election, anyway--just whether he plans to pack the Supreme Court.

Well, that certainly sounds encouraging.

The problem, as I see it, is that he will probably modify his declaration so that it is essentially meaningless: He will not do this unless (fill in the blank).

And the caveat will almost certainly be something that we can be confident will come to pass.

I sincerely hope that I am wrong.

But I rather doubt it.

Any definite answer will lose votes..."yes" to packing the court will lose any moderates left in the party, and "no" will lose the AOC/Bernie Bolshevik crew...So he's hoping the Sergeant Schultz routine will keep both sides intact...

As a side note, imagine how bad a party is when you can't solidly come down on a position, right before an election, because there are two distinct "sub-parties" within and you have to placate both...

Hopefully if ever get enough republicans and moderate(doubt there is any such thing now.Its far left and crazy off the deep end left now) democrats then they can they can pass a constitutional amendment limiting the number of supreme court justices.
